Okay, I am new to this software and this forum so please be kind. If there is already a post out there that is similar to this please just direct me to it.

I have a character which I have drawn and wrote about. My character has no to subtle facial features. How do I form a faceless character from the existing Victoria 5 model?

Thanks!

    Hello Double D! :)

Currently I am not aware of anything available that would give you a "nearly faceless" character that is specifically for V5....

However (good news) since V5 is actually a "Shape" for Genesis ( and since Genesis can be so mixed up...lol) there might be something that could work for you. :)

I know of a few things you could look at.

The first one looks like it's a clothing set, but it isn't. It's a shape set for Genesis and comes with a mask, that I know can hide ears and nose... not sure how versatile the masks are, but may help:

The second shape I know of is from the same creator, it's more of a 'toon" figure, I guess...but does have very "smooth" features.:

There are a few toon characters that may also help:

    ...BUT...

There may be even another option for you. Genesis already has some interesting "smoothing" capabilities. Are you familiar with the smoothing features available in Daz Studio 4?

    Another option, these free morphs:

There's morphs there to create faces that are lipless, earless, noseless, etc. May be able to work with those to remove or dampen some features.

If you just wanted to plain Genesis face rather than V5's you could look for the V5 head morph in the shaping options and set it to -100%

Thanks for your help. So is the face gen software how people develop new characters or is it ususally just morphing the downloadable characters?

No I am not. I downloaded this last week and I have been playing around with it. Like I said, I am a traditional artist (hobbiest) with a few years of practice with Photoshop and Painter softwares. I am just starting in the 3D world. Any lesson is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I quickly looked for this option and could not find it. Where is this morph option?

Most characters use hand-sculpted faces, made in ZBrush or the like.

I guess another question which I will need to ask may help with my delima now and that is, How can I take body parts from another creature and attach to my human character, ie horns? Maybe I can take the head of a cyborg, place it on my human character and put skin on it.

I have played with Zbrush. What do you just export the model from Zbrush and imported into or onto your character?

What about sculptris? Just looking at keeping the cost down.

I believe Sculptris can do morphs, but I haven't tried it - the main thing with morphs is to make sure you are working on the base mesh, bot the sub-divided mesh as seeen on the default Genesis (set mesh resolution to base before export) and don't do anything to add, remove or change geometry (that can be a problem in Sculptris, I think).

There is also an interested way of creating morphs for DAZ's Genesis figure using only blender and import/export scripts for it
    described in:
    http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2834649
Scripts for the newer Blender versions are toward the end of that thread.

Okay, I played around with this tonight. See attached test image. But now how do I get the skin back on her without creating a new face? Thanks for your help.

There are generally two places that you can find textures for Genesis in your Content. Look in the Materials or Characters tab. V5's textures are located in: People/Genesis/Materials/V5. Make sure that Genesis is selected in your scene tab. Then switch to your Materials/V5 folder and double click on "V5 Bree All" to apply :)

Thanks to all. I am slowly getting a hang of this but I have another question about morphing the face. I noticed when I was using the scluptris software on the eyes and mouth that I could not completely close over the gaps. There would always be a line. My thought is to somehow replace the head on the Victoria 5 model with the head of the Cyborg 4.0 model. Then I could work on closing the eyes on it and after that bring in the skin texture to finish my model.

What are y'all's thoughts on this process?

    Thanks!

If you want to completely cover the eyes you would probably be better looking at making a GeoGraft eyemask to replace that area of the head - morphing will have problems, both closing the eyes smoothly and keeping the join smooth as other morphs are applied.

How do you geograft? Is that a software?
