Exporting character from DS to another 3D software while preserving costume pose?
Okay so here's what I want to do. I want to create characters in Daz Studio, then get them into Maya where I'm more comfortable.
1. So let's say I have a simple Daz character in a pose with a costume (photo1).
2. I try exporting to FBX (photo2)
3. I import it into Maya (photo 3), and.... crap. The clothes don't conform to the pose, they are in the original T pose. And they are no longer connected to the rig -- they're just a standalone object inside Maya. . You can see in photo 2 that I selected "merge clothing into figure skeleton" in the Daz FBX export settings, which sounds like it would be what I'm looking for, but that didn't help.
4. I thought -- well heck, maybe it isn't possible to get the costume into Maya on an FBX export, perhaps I just need to pose characters in Daz and then export the figure as an OBJ.(Photo 4).
5. But when I import that into Maya, the character and clothing are in the correct pose, but the textures are missing (photo 5)
I have tried exporting multiple characters with multiple costumes with the same results. SO, my question is this, is it possible to somehow export a Daz character as FBX with the clothing attached? What exactly does the "merge clothing into figure skeleton" option mean, if not that? Is there way to merge the clothing with the character mesh in Daz, prior to exporting, perhaps?

Well I feel silly -- the problem was that I had checked the "Convert clothing to static geometry box". I thought I had tried all the check boxes that looked relevant, but apparently I didn't. I'm all good now!
