why is the 3Delight stand alone not a solution? It works great. Hollywood studios have used it for motion picture production. So I don't see what the complaint is.
What DS does not have, and I'm mighty upset about this, is sequenced RIB export for animation.
And I think the only solution is to rewrite the RIB exporter to include a sequenced function...
I would be willing to pay about 600 $ for a "professional" version of DAZ studio with all functions unlocked so it can be used in a "professional" environment.
It is up to DAZ to come up with another and better deal with 3Delight and then give 3Delight their share of the money for each version of DS "Pro" they sell.
And if they feel like they do not want to renegotiate the whole deal with 3Delight they can just sell a stand alone batch rendering application in the DAZ store for those users that need it and then pay 3Delight their share of the money for each application sold.
The problem is that $600 is only a fraction (about 25%) of what the 'all functions unlocked' (network/large number of cores) 3Delight license costs...
You should ask over at the 3Delight forms, Daz3d does not own this software in any way shape or form. The owness to allow batch renders over 3delight is not Daz's decision to make unless they want to get sued by 3Delight.
Would there be any negative side effect to your personal experience of DAZ studio if there was a batch rendering application for DAZ studio that featured an user friendly interface that would let one queue, pause and resume renders with the press of a button?
How many more people do you think would consider using DAZ studio in their workflow if such a batch rendering application was available?
How much more money could DAZ and their PA make when more people would use their software and buy content?

New user groups for software are gained by listening to their concerns and looking for solutions.
Attacking people on the forum, sidetracking the discussion to points that are not the main concern may not be the way to attract new user groups that have different needs.
I tried to raise awareness towards a very important issue that may keep small CG, film and advertisment studios from using DAZ content and software.
For me...no, as I don't do much that would require it.
Well...if it was the price you suggested...bazillions. But the 3Delight folks would be a tad bit upset by that, considering to get those features from them it costs several times more.
All I'm saying is that in order to do it, there has to be an equality of price...and it's the 3Delight folks setting that price.
Not only is it free, it's cross platform. I can run it on my Windows Box, My Intel Mac Laptops and my G4's and G5's in Ubantu (again; free), nothing about that equation sucks, but Luxrender is open source and free which 3Delight is not.

Neither does PRenderMan.
What are the TWO MOST USED RENDER ENGINES IN HOLLYWOOD?
PRenderMan (probably 90% of films made with 3D rendering) and 3Delight. (the other 10%)
As a 3D Hobbyist using free software, you might consider being a little more realistic :)

Why do you not contact 3Delight, and ask them?
Bottom line is this: Professional 3D Software is not mass market.
You might try another system, like maybe Messiah, 3DStudio Max or May. It sounds like DS is not a solution for you.
