Hi everybody!

I got a wacom pen tablet as a gift

I wonder what can I do with it when it comes to DAZ Studio

Is there a way to set it up to ease the posing tasks?

How do you use your Pen tablet?

Thank you!

Mine doesn't work in Daz:( The Cursor dissapears, and when I click on something it does weird things. I have an Inteous3.

The Wacom Tablets are for digital drawing and painting. You need a paint and drawing program. It is of no use whatsoever in DAZ Studio. However you can postwork renders with it. As long as you have the correct program for the tablet.

Typically I'll use the mouse in DS, just for ease, but occasionally I'll use the pen/tab along with the active posing tool. Might actually be helpful in other regards, but I haven't gotten around to those yet :) I use a Genius tablet myself, mostly for postwork, but not always.

Hmm, I hadn't used the tab for a bit, so I pulled it out to give it try again in D|S. Same thing is happening to me now. Bummer.

I have acute CTS, so I can't use a mouse for more than a few minutes at a time. I have a Wacom Bamboo and I use it with everything, not only 2D and 3D graphic apps.

The only problem(s) I have found when using it in DS is the Camera Controls and the sliders in the Parameters and Surface Tabs, but I've been using DS since version 2 came out, so I'm used to just typing in the parameter/surface specifics I need, instead of using the sliders. I also do the same with placing cameras where I want them.

I guess it's what you can get used to. I don't know what I'd do without my Wacom.

I use my tablet for photoshop work. I dislike it for programs 3D programs however so I never even tried it with Daz Studio. I had professors that used tablets in programs like Max and I never understood how they got used to it.

over the years I have gotten used to using the tablet for menus when needed, but if I have extensive changes to do in menus I tend to switch back to my trackball for a few seconds.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience!

It looks that is more suitable for programs like GIMP and Photoshop, I will give it a try in DAZ that is the one I use the most

    Thanks again!

I often use the tablet when I want to move around the screen quickly with accuracy. Surprisingly, an example of this is when going through a batch of installers since they have all of those radio buttons and check boxes. The two main areas where a mouse is better is when zooming (scroll wheel) and when typing a lot inbetween because picking up/setting down pen is more cumbersome then the mouse (I usually put it in my mouth ;p.)

I'm just using the Bamboo atm but it's still much more accurate then the mouse for me. The better tablet has extra features which might take care of the scrolling, but I'd have to reach over with my left hand to the left side so not sure how comfortable that would be until I tried it.

The main thing I found with the tablet was getting used to it. I found that doing simple tasks over time worked for me. Playing solitaire when taking a break helped me as games tend to put us in a more relaxed frame of mind in general and makes us more receptive to learning the required coordination (at least it did with me.) :)

I have two Intuos 3 tablets a small one for traveling and a larger one for at home. I haven't (yet) experienced any problems using the pen with the tablet in Studio, but my usable laptop is old and running Win 7 and is SLOW so is seldom used for artistic creations. My new laptop is running Win 8 and I haven't finished setting it up, so haven't installed any DAZ products yet.

With Studio, and my old laptop, I found it a lot easier to use the tablet and pen instead of the mouse pad ::shiver:: to manipulate everything in Studio. It just takes patience and practice to get use to. I don't know if the mouse works with the tablet in studio, I quit using it when it wasn't before Studio 4 was officially released and haven't tried since then.
