What is HSS and where is it defined?

What version of Poser was it designed for?

I think that's in reference to the Human surface Shader, which is for DS.

Human Surface Shader, also known as Elite Human Surface Shader or EHSS. It's for DAZ Studio, and as far as I know won't work in Poser. It comes free with DS4, but for some reason it's still in the store, also: http://www.daz3d.com/elite-human-surface-shader

You may wish to consider this product page:

    http://www.daz3d.com/elite-human-surface-shader

(the "Elite" HSS was an upgrade from the original HSS, I believe... and has subsequently been upgraded/replaced by the "UberSurfaceShader"... all by omnifreaker. Some of these items come free with the base DS install, and some still need to be purchased).

The HumanSurface shader docs can be found here:

    http://www.omnifreaker.com/index.php?title=HumanSurface

(along with much more info about the rest of the DS shader products)

I saw the reference in this product:

    http://www.daz3d.com/primrose-for-s4

    it says:

Primrose Mat Options (also includes a seperate HSS Version):

When I load them i poser, they load fine but I can't see a difference in the preview, the shader tree or the render.

Unfortunately, deleted the DS files so I can't see if they were in the same folder or not. I'm never sure whether the DS shaders ignore the poser pz2's or modify them.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

If there are .dsa or similar files alongside the .pz2 files then they load instead of the Poser files.

They are different settings, entirely...so 'ignore' is probably the best way to describe what they do (completely replace is probably more accurate). Other than the 'common' base settings, DS, in general ignores the Poser mats/shader nodes. If there was an easy, scripted 'translator' there'd be no need for separate material files to begin with...

Thanks, I'm aware of SSS and this solution. I saw the reference to HSS in a product and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on something.

At the moment I have several out of the box SSS textures and haven't had to worry about conversions yet. :)
