I am looking for a real looking skunk. Momma and baby. With poses. Ones that will work in Daz and Poser 9.

Thanks. It doesn't look that real. But still, thank you.

    I wonder why? ;-P
But this might make a reasonable alternative for you JS...

Could something be done with the MilCat or CDI's "Cat-o-Nine-Lives" morphs?

Not perfect, but perhaps an enlarged Daz Squirrel with a custom skunk texture on it?

Hey, MJ!! :) I already have all the available skunks...heehee. My favorite is probably this one: http://www.runtimedna.com/Plushies-Chloe.html

    ...she's sooo cute....but not very "real"...lol

I never thought of the Daz Squirrel...hmmm???

As to why there isn't a good skunk anywhere?? I can only think it's because they're little stinkers...(heehee)

Thanks all! Granted that little skunk is cute. But, I need a real skunk for my children's story. That is the only thing, that is holding things up. Thanks again.

What are you doing the renders in?

I am doing the renders in Daz 4.5. Still haven't got the hang of Poser 9 yet.

Ok...then the skunk at Content Paradise may be usable, after all...if you use one of the hair plugins on it. I'll try and post a render of it with Garibaldi hair, later...it shows a lot of promise (at least the experiments I was doing with it last night....)

Here's the CP skunk wearing Garibaldi fur...it really needs a new texture map to begin with and a face lift, but with some decent fur it isn't THAT bad (you can do the same/similar with Look At My Hair, too)...

I think the render shows a pretty good test. The head and the feet look good. The tail is not bad, folded over like that, the fur does fluff in different directions. It's a good start.

Since skunks' actual bodies are tiny, at least around where I am, the squirrel seems like a good foundation. Needs the white V head to tail body stripe, of course, but I think that could be managed in postwork. I also wonder why there are other so few skunks, raccoons, badgers, woverines, stoats, pole cats etc. models.

Hello modelers out there! Perhaps someone looking for inspiration could build a base model for these critters with morphs into the various similar ones, with lovely new fur choices!

I'd like a model that starts out straightforwards 'natural', and plenty of time later for toony or evile morphs (they all have a mouthful of real sharp fangs, and claws).

The base texture map on that model is pure fecal matter...plus the body is intentionally 'fat' to make up for the lack of decent fur. It's a really old model so that technique was common practice then. I'm doing another render with a modified texture map (both hair plugins can grab the hair color from a texture map, so it's important to have a decent one to start with).

Overall, the superfamily Musteloidea is very under represented in 3d models...that covers raccoons, weasels, skunks, badgers and red pandas...and all the individual species of those families.

What about adapting the DAZ Squirrel somehow? Although Skunks are more evenly distributed on their 4 legs.

Thanks all! I think I will keep looking a little longer. I need it to look real.
