  • Wow! Thanks for doing that. Definitely checking those out this weekend when I have time to watch them. :)

I have to edit the video and load it but here is the final artwork for the composite I am doing in the video. After looking at it a bit I did a few tiny changes after I stopped the video running, such as adding the birds and going back and giving the dragon more saturation so she wasn't so washed out looking after the final steps. Otherwise the video covers pretty much everything that was done to add all of this together and make it one piece. Also the video is shot as i am working, I didn't pre make this piece so apologies for odd silences and mistakes. :) Hopefully some of you fine the postwork steps helpful.  I'll post the link when the video is live.

And here's the cover, it's already been approved by the author and should be out in a couple of weeks.

So glad I didn't see this til you had all of them up lol. I'd have gone crazy waiting for the next! Thanks for putting this together, can't wait to watch it.

The videos have been very helpful thanks so much for posting them.  I've learned a couple more things and it was super helpful because I'm starting to render with the idea of compositing more and more.  I almost always render without a background and ground anymore but its useful to have an idea of doing composits of the whole scene.

Thanks Sonya, the big composite video where it all goes together had to be broken into parts. I got one up loaded and one uploading now, and probably two more tomorrow. My child was home from school today and played minecraft on my computer all day and I just got it back from her. lol

Today's upload of the composite piece, there will probably be another late tonight.

Haha I have to say one of the bonus's of having grown children is they have their own electronics.

Mine are teens and have their own electronics, but my working system is the only one powerful enough to run modded minecraft with nearly 200 mods on it in. :)

The videos have been up and done for a while, but I didn't get over here to post the link, it's been crazy busy. So here is a link to a playlist that has all the videos.

If you see anything you want me to cover again or have any questions let me know, I'm not sure i explain correctly. Also not sure if I have told you all I have neurological damage from a bad mix of medications. (Apparently Spornox and  Entocort don't mix well, but no one knew that at the time I was given them. ) It's better then it used to be, and long term memory  wasn't effected, but concentration and short term were. I can run photoshop on autopilot - so to speak - just fine, but found myself getting a little lost when having to think about it and tell what I was doing. Hopefully it's not to jumbled and you can all understand it ok.

Thanks for the links!  The ones that I have seen so far were perfectly clear and I would never have guessed there was any problem.  And if it makes you feel better, I am considered (mostly) normal, and I can't remember stuff from one page to the next.  I literally sometimes will look at something and in the process of switching over to the next page to actually do it, will forget and have to go look at it again.

Love the Xmas renders, esp Santa on the owl, lol  Lovely indeed.

I've watched all your vids and they are fantastic.  Thank you for taking the time to illustrate your process, it is very helpful.

I still haven't had a chance to try the beauty pass method you explained, but hope to do so soon.

Thanks Sonya & Worlds_Edge I'm glad the videos are clear and helpful.

Yesterday after posting the image below on facebook I received a message asking how to do the faded edge, so I made a new video showing the quick and dirty preset filter way that i used on this image and I also showed the way to do this in photoshop itself to give you more control over the edge fade. https://youtu.be/swpgyB9K0Xg

This is a photograph of my youngest daughter by the way, not a 3D image. :)

I also finished and got author approval on the 3rd book cover.

I'm saving all my book cover money to buy a new graphics card, I'm planning on the 1080. As I said before the new update has my system even slower then it was previously, I can't even run dforce without it crashing.  I have it about half saved so hopefully I'll be back up and running again soon.

    Thanks Sonja,

Well I broke down and rendered a couple of things even though everything is running so slow. Not so bad through if I keep the renders simple, so here's a mixed media piece. The bottom photo in the before image came from pixabay, the top one is mine.

Thanks xmasrose. I feel so awkward making those tutorials, but I'll make more if people are finding them useful. I can do much shorter ones if anyone has specific things they want to see, or I can just record what I'm currently working on....

I rarely watch TV but my husband snuck in and took over the TV in the living room, the same TV I have my computer attached to so i was forced to watch shows with him last night. There was a commercial that came on, I think it was for J.C Penny's and I just loved the model. I have no idea who she was and I just caught a glimpse of her, but I loved her look. She appeared to possibly be biracial, with skin on the lighter side and lots of freckles. She was stunning. I wish i could find out ho she is. Anyway that small glimpse i got of her inspired this image...

    She is beautiful!

For the tutorials I really like what you did with your photo and the one from Pixabay. You made them work together. I know making tutorials is a lot of work so recording what you are working on would certainly be very useful. Thank you for anything you get the time and energy to make.

Thank you so much for the input. Blending background images is relatively simple to just put the two together but there are a lot of little tweaks you can do to really make them blend better that people new to photoshop probably don't know about. That would make a great tutorial! Thanks!

She is beautiful. You did a great job. I love the previous picture of the girl on the motorcycle, too. Fantastic!

I agree. Whenever I try to do something like that, it never seems to look as good. I'm probably missing some vital step in the process. I would love to see a tutorial  showing how you do that.

Thanks @knittingmommy I'll do it next week, once everyone goes back to school and work, and I have a quite house again. :)

Did you all catch the thread about facegen updating?? You can send them an email along with your invoice information and they will send you a link download the new version. The eyes work a lot better although I had to use the fix cornea morph in daz to fix a bump after the face morph was applied. Anyway I have been playing with using facegen for my base  morph and combining it with skin builder and other morphs for new characters. Facegen does create it's own skin but it still has issues and usually needs pulled into photoshop to fix and it's is only as good as the photograph you are using. Oh yea, the new update exports to gen 8 now!

For this one I used my daughter's face to get the base morph, added growing up morphs, then skinbuilder and N.G.S shaders.

I look forward to it as well.  Will be interesting to see if your way is different than my way lol.  I'm hoping it is, I'm always looking for new techniques and I kow there are a 100 different ways to do anything.

Here's a character I'm having a lot of fun with. Based on my daughters best friend. Her ethnicity is Hispanic/Caucasian but she has such a versatile look to her. She loves posing for me but she dyed her hair weird colors now and I hate painting hair. :) So now I have her in 3D :)
