Is there an easier way to select polygons when making surfaces?

I'm hoping for something akin to opening the flat UV view and selecting polygons fro mthere rather than manually pick them in 3d view. Is it possible or do I have to make do?

NVM. Found out simple UVMapper you can just select polygon group and assing them to materials/groups.
I'm not aware of a way to do that in DS. There are shortcuts to help with selection - ctrl + to grow a selection, ctrl * to select all connected, ctrl = to seelct a loop and so on (Mac users replace ctrl with cmd), and you can use the + symbols in the Tools Settings pane to select a group or surface in its entirety. Going beyond that, at least currently, requires using a modeller or uv editor.
Yeah the easy method I found is:
1) Create Surfaces in Daz
2) Export as OBJ
3) Import to UVMapper
4) Select flat UV easily
5) Assign to material
6) Done
No need to mess around with changing camera views and manually selecting every single polygon.
