Help with FaceGen

Hi.  I've used FaceGen in the past - but it's been over a year or two so rusty on the procedure, and not sure if I had DAZ Install Manager last time I'd gone through the process.  FaceGen exporter can't find my Genesis.dsf file which it needs.  I think I'd set things up so most of my content would be installed on an external drive - though looking at DIM, the main program (DAZ Studio, and Carrara 8.5Pro) are on my D Drive - and while I found my Genesis.duf I can't find my .dsf file.

Any suggestions?  Thanks.

you can simply browser to your "DAZ Install" folder location by clicking on the "Modify" button. In my case that locations is F:\Users\Public\.

  • I haven't used DAZ much in a long time - so apologize in advance for simple questions.  What 'Modify' button?  Are you talking about inside DIM or inside DAZ Studio itself?

  • Attaching a couple of screenshots - one showing the message from FaceGen and the other showing the mess I have for installed content (which I would like to clean up at some point).

If I select Genesis.cr2 and navigate to file location it brings me here: H:\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Libraries\character\DAZ People  (labeled as External A drive)

If I select Genesis.duf and navigate to file location, it brings me to H:\My DAZ 3D Library\People\Genesis

If I search my computer for Genesis.dsf it doesn't locate the file.

I wasn't sure if the file structures had changed since I first started using FaceGen (probably 2-3 years ago now that I think about it)

Was hoping to have a new character in place to show someone on Monday, so would appreciate any suggestions.

    Thanks

  • Found a second Export tab in Facegen which I'd missed before - and after setting path to H:\My DAZ 3D Library, the file was correctly generated and morph successfully created for Genesis.

I still want to clean up my DAZ installations so DAZ isn't pulling from so many different directories- but will do that another day on a separate thread (though advice on how to do so is welcome)
