Any 'Bryce only' contest in the offing?
Just a query; as I’m relatively new to Bryce and the whole DAZ site experience etc.,...has there ever been a contest/competition where - for Bryce renders submitted only - a series of prizes were offered?
This whole ‘Stonemason’ contest/blurb seems to be a wonderful way of making further sales, and promotion therein, of works (nothing wrong with that...I’ve done it myself). So, is it time that [someone] took the reigns on similar above in the Bryce render’s field/forum only? (I, and I suspect others, too, can’t enter the Stonemason contest because of the “at least one (1) Stonemason model” requirement).
Prizes for the Byrce-only renders don’t have to be necessarily Brycey in nature, but would have some use, or be applicable in (e.g. models, DS..etc.,), in the ‘ware. Moreover, would it be possible for a 'group of people' (DAZer’s or Brycers...and similar pros’ alike) get together and offer a wide range of prizes be an alternative, rather than from 'one person'.
I mean, giving away a small group of prizes is just a once-off deal, and shouldn’t cost that much – to the individual, nor the proposed group - offerring them. It could, in the end, be to their advantage.
Stupid query?

Watch this space, New Users Contests if you still consider yourself a "New User"
Thanks, Chohole for that - I'm missing out on a whole lot of DAZ stuff happening here, I think, as I only ever log into the Bryce Talk forum (in my Favourite's Bar). The Jan 2013 contest looks interesting - on initial views a lot of wonderful DS submissions, but will see how it developes - might throw in a work.
Thanks again
Yeah, but the February one (which is still in the planning stage) will be better. The January one does really depend on previous contest entries. It is a sort of summing up of the last years of contests, which were mostly educational. and seeing if the contestants felt they had learned anything since that contest, and how they would now improve their previous entry.
I have to admit this was done because we sort of got a bit tied up with holidays and things, and actually forgot to plan a January contest. :red:
Stonemason does have some free stuff somewhere I'll see if I can find a link.
Thanks also Scorpio. Stonemason replied in the contest thread - "Freebies by Stonemason may also be used, but as with the last challenge my preference is to see purchased content". Sigh...feel using a freebie would be a waste of time.

Maybe if winning was the goal... but if showcasing Bryce is the goal, then a freebie gets your work in the competition thread. :-)
Stonemason's work is really top quality stuff and I've looked at and admired it a lot over the years though I've never purchased any of it because each one is very specific and not specifically what I was looking for at those times.
Thanks, Savage. Noob as I am to this whole CG stuff, I have to admit Stonemason and his/her works are all new to me. There seems to be an SF theme to those I’ve seen so far, which isn’t everyone’s cup-o-tea, however, from those submitted so far, the contest is certainly heating up.
At to entering to win or just for the fun of it...there will always be at the back of one's mind the thought and hope of achieving some recognition and reward...it's inbuilt in our genes from the human condition :)

I purchased and used several items from Stonemason. He is a great modeler and artist. This is his website http://www.stefan-morrell.com/
I have render cooking now. Will post a link to it later. (it's estimating a 6 hour render)
BTW, when Stefan does hi city ruins models, he has a great resource now for inspiration. He lives in Christchurch NZ, within the shadow of that TIme Ball Station that eventually did collapse, although he was lucky himself and didn't sustain any great damage. His house is just out of view on the left of this photo

Well last year I participated in one of the "new users" competitions... just for the fun of it because the subject appealed to me. I only participated though, I didn't enter my render into the actual competition.
I look at it like this: Do a good render and you'll get recognition in spades.
The reward of having people say they like your render is enough for me, especially when posting to forums, but then I have the luxury of getting other types of reward from commissioned work.
I do find that on the rare occasions that I post in other sub forums here (some threads in "Art Studio" for instance) , people say "I didn't know Bryce could do that". So it's always good to spread the word a bit. :-)
Not allowed to post the actual render anywhere else as it is a Contest entry, but here is what I was cooking

That's a lovely work, Chohole...mystical feel to it, too (wouldn't surprise me to see one of your maidens walk down those steps :) ) Like the fly agaric's touch....haha...bet that comment will send some to do a Google search ;)
