"Install Update" not working (resolved . . . somewhat)

BitstreamBitstream Posts: 38

In my Updates tab under the Smart Content window, I right-click on a content item and choose "Install Update." Nothing happens. When I right-click again to see the status, it's apparently updating, because it's now giving the option "Cancel Operation." But it never updates. Yesterday, I initiated the "Install Update" on some items, then left DAZ Studio running all night and most of today (it's now almost 4:00 PM [1600 hours] my time), and the items still haven't updated. I still get "Cancel Operation" when I right-click on them.

BTW, I tried this method of updating within DAZ Studio itself after the same items failed to update in DIM.

No clue what to do. Any help would be very much appreciated.

The progress should appear on the status bar at the bottom of the Daz Studio window - is there anything there?

    Richard,

It says "Optaining data from Daz Connect" and the progress bar remains on 0%.

Which seems strange, because SOME items install, and SOME upgrades install (though--and this may or may not be relevant--the upgrades always take much longer than the new installs, at least in DIM). The status I noted above, however, if from within DAZ Studio itself, not DIM.

    Update:

It's at 50% now. Moving like a glacier. And that's for only one item. I have a bunch to update.

New installs go really fast. (I don't get it.sad)

Actually there is topic about some Up-date product problem in pnatinum club member  forum. (DIM and DAZ connect)

I suggest modelator   show those  topic which report problem of  product, not only for platinum member.

    Lindsey,

Well, it happens with ANY of them at any given time, but the ones showing up under my Update tab right now are:

    ---------------------------------------

    Alluring Garden

    Amal My Protector

    Auto Gyro

    Backdrop Deluxe Texture Pack

    Bay Bridge

Bone and Fantasy Scale Iray Shaders

    Canisters and Pans

    Classic Furniture Assortment

    Crying Time

    A Curious Bus

Dream Home: Foyer and Living Room F...London

    Dress Shoes for Michael 6

    FW Lin

    GIS Skyway

    ---------------------------------------

I assume that many of these have been sitting here for a while, never updating. Then more get put in the queue. (I don't always remember to check the tab when I have DAZ Studio open.)

    Thanks for trying to help.

I only have 6 products awaiting on the Updates tab and some old Terradome 2 products I've kept "on hold" in the Available tab.  I installed/updated a few and didn't notice any slow downs for me using Daz Connect. Unless there was a file reorganization, product updates should typically install quickly as only updated/changed files are downloaded.

  • Having simular issues. One thing they all have in common is that I purchased them from last year's PC anniversary sale. Here's the items:

GIS Skyway Product ID :13068 / Part of PC anniversary 2015 -- crazy deal 4

Future Height Expansion   Product ID : 14950 / Part of PC anniversary 2015 -- crazy deal 4

The Folly Product ID : 15748/ Part of PC anniversary 2015 -- crazy deal 6

The bottom bar says "Obtaining data from DAZ Connect" and is at (I think *) 98%, but I've installed new stuff so it throws the % off. I can say it's been at that value for the past 30 minutes, at least. From previous sessions in DS, it would just stay at zero % for hours, until I'm eager to do stuff and just quit DAZ Studio and force quit, if necessary.

I've deleted these items from the DIM and from within DAZ Studio and tried to do a "clean" reinstall. Installation is speedy until it's time to obtain data from DAZ Connect (when I'm in Studio, the DIM has no errors or such). I've not touched the directory structure of my DAZ library, so it's as untouched as posssible, except for items I bought from other vendors outside of DAZ which I manually installed -- which shouldn't be an issue, right?

    ---

*I don't know if this is a Mac thing or not, but that bottom bar, especially at the right side, where the % is, has a few pixels cut off  from the top and bottom resulting in a pretty unreadable number.

I think CartoonMike actually stated the problem better than I did (except I'm not using a Mac).

This evening, I tried downloading and installing the files again from within DIM. They all downloaded (albeit slowly) and installed...except for one, and I cannot get it to download and install to save myself, so I'm just shutting down and will try again tomorrow.

Very strange problem with no seeming cause.

Thanks to those who have tried to help.

    DUH.

When you purchase something, you kind of expect that there's something there. But I find that the file I'm having trouble with (I should have thought to check this sooner) has 0 bytes in it. Now, granted, it's 1 of 4 of the Bone and Fantasy Scale Iray Shaders, and 2-4 downloaded and installed. But now I wonder if there is SUPPOSE to be something in that file. Why else would the vendor even have created it? But the download section on the DAZ website confirms it: 0 bytes. Go figure.

Bone and Fantasy Scale Iray Shaders (1of4) 0 bytes

That product is known to be having issues.

Well, hopefully the shaders will work, since the other 3 files in the package downloaded and installed. I intend to test them as soon as I can get to it.

    Thanks for the help.
