Smoothing Modifier - Need Help

Hi, I'm having trouble with some clothing that I've added a smoothing modifier to. When I pose my character (M4) and body parts start interacting with each other - ie, in a hands on hips pose, the clothing will start distorting with the fingers and hands.

Is there anyway I can instruct the smoothing modifier to stop interacting with certain parts of the figures body.

Nope..Best is to set the smoothing at a lower setting like 3 or something like that. And move the hands sightly further away from the clothing.
