RESOLVED: New to DAZ Studio Pro 4.9 - Can't locate installed content

Hello,

I apologize in advance if this has been covered. I have been combing through this thread for a while and haven't seen anything. I'll preface this with, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is. I'm hoping someone can lend a bit of advice. I'm a Poser user who has jumped the fence to DAZ Studio and right now am questioning that decision. :)

I've installed DAZ Studio Pro 4.9. I've created a special drive for content. I've gone into the Edit Preferences and told the program where to find content. .. DAZ Connect Data, DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats. I have them all using a dedicated hard drive and mimicked what DAZ originally tried to put on my OneDrive (Hate it, won't pay to use it, had to move it). Did not seem to be an issue. My smart content window shows things I can use. Sort Of. The image shows in color but when looking at the individual items the image has to offer, I see only a frame with a caution triangle. DS can't find the content.

Did I break something? If so, how do I fix it? I'd like to use my M4. It's one of the casualties although it never worked. I could never get it installed.

I tried uninstalling, starting fresh with new folders. It didn't like that and things are worse.

Thanks.

I came to check on this thread and it said there was one comment. I didn't see anything. Odd. Posting this now to see if it shows 2 comments.

Update: It still only shows one comment. Okay. Weird

When troubleshooting content problems get out of Smart Content pane and use Content Library pane.  Once in Content Library pane is there any content available?

The content I am trying to find is not appearing in Smart Content, Install, or Content Library. The only place where it shows is in the 'Store' where the button says 'Install'. When I click that install button it says 'metadata updated' not 'installing' and the content does not appear in any of these locations except Content Library as a frame that throws the error the program cannot find the resource.

The content in particular at this moment is the Michael 4 Base and Michael 4 Morphs ++.

I just installed the Hiro 3 base from the store. This one said it was installing but I have yet to find the figure. I see mat's and poses in the content library. No figure.

All the figures you mentioned are Poser format so they will be under Poser Formats in the Content Library.

Jestmart .. you are my hero! I knew it had to be something I didn't understand.

Back to the original question .. M4 base (installed using the intall link in the STORE tab) is not showing up anywhere. I just went through every folder in the content library, poser formats and all others. :(

There's one more step that a lot of people miss — did you tell the Install Manager (DIM) where you want it to install your content? The two programs don't talk to each other, it's much too easy to have the DIM installing to one location and D|S looking in another location. Chances are all your content is perfectly installed, but in the DIM default location instead of your custom location. Easiest thing to do is uninstall everything, change the DIM setting, and re-install.

One other gotcha, note that DIM also saves the downloaded installers in a default-unless-you-changed-it location. This can be moved to your content drive as well, if you want to keep the installers handy.

Edit: just noticed your comment on M4 — because of the way GEneration 4 morphs are installed, these figures don't work if you install with Connect, you must install the figures and all the morphs with DIM.

Hello. Thank you for the instructions. I'm sorry if I missed that in the product documentation. I have not used the DIM with this install of DAZ Studio. I have been relying solely on DAZ Studio to locate and install my content.

I'm off to install the DIM .. the wonderful DIM of Daz .. I hear music. Where's my tin man?

I found my tin man ... he's in my new runtime that my DIM installs stuff in. WOOT!
