Scaling body parts in x y or z
Hello.
I'm not exactly new to 3d however I'm coming from the 'sketchup' side of things.
My question is about 'scaling' I'll try to be a brief as I can.
In most 3d applications you have scaling in the x y and z axis and daz has this as well.
I'm trying to create a figure with stunted proportion these are called 'chibis' in anime circles.
Big head little body.
When I try to rescale parts of the body the thighs for example there is only one slider available and it scales in all three axis. There doesn’t seem to be a way to unlock the slider or access the other sliders using the parameters tab.
This is the Genisis 2 female figure I'm tinkering with.
I apologize if this is a dumb question but the manual has not been very helpful at this point.

It is often best to use the scaling options in the head and body morphs, but taken to extremes they may cause posing issues. Directly scaling body parts can sometime cause the rigging and mesh to get out of alignment, thus the precaution of hidding scaling. You can un-hide it by checking the Show Hidden in the pane options box, but remember you scale at your own risk.
I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
The sort of scaling I'm wanting, is more like what might be seen in a dwarf or similar.
I have rescaled the head to a degree but need to shorten rather than rescale the lower and upper arms and legs.
I assume ill have to cross the bridge in regard to the mesh breaking when I get there.
I've tried using the 'unhide' option located under the gray combination scale control on the varous body parts. Using it does nothing.
Its like the X Y and Z scalers are missing rather than simply hidden.
Might be just due to my inexperience with the program.
I'll continue to mess with it and post back should I find something. Again you have my thanks.
An update of sorts. I found out that I can indeed unlock the individual x, y and z scalers using the node properties Hierarchy.
So now its down to fiddling with it till i get what I’m after.
To unlock a parameter just click on the little padlock icon. A chibi style character can be made with body morphs to adjust head, torso, arms and legs size. These morphs do scale the body parts but they are also linked to a lot of behind the scene adjustment morphs. It is these linked adjust morphs that make using the sizing morphs less likely to badly distort the mesh when pose opposed to scaling alone.
Well, its a learning process as you know. The amount of power that daz Studio brings to the table is rather amazing when you consider that this is a free to download program.
I've noticed the mesh distortions and Belive me I am reading what you have posted! Right now I'min more of a tear it up mode. Seeing what this beast can do.
Later when the smoke clears I'll haveabetter grasp of how to make proper charaters. Its alll good and your advice has been helpful.
