I changed about 4 GPU cards in these years, jumping from AMD to NVidia, but I never witnessed a change in the number of the previewed lights, always 8...
With the 1080 The number will increase or it will be the same?

No, the eight-lights-only thing is hardcoded into the graphics system in all GPU cards that drives the Viewport display. It's a legacy limitation, it's always been there and probably always will. Your options are either to switch a light off (when you do this the next available light will show in the Viewport) or use the Auxiliary Viewport as a sort of preview render.
There are high-end GPU systems with a higher light limit, but they co$$$t lot$$$ of ca$$$h (and need a ridiculously powerful computer). Animation studios and millionaires only need apply. This is serious "if you need to ask, you can't afford it" territory.
A sort of...
I was just trying to figure out all the advantages of changing again my GPU card. At the moment I'm pretty stuck between Nvidia 1070 and 1080!
Thanks for the answer, Kitty!
