Daz animations via other software issue assistance

this may be slightly off topic as it is not strictly DAZ only but it does effect Daz.

I wish to know if anyone who uses Daz3d and a mixture of other softwares (such as Mixamo, blender, fuse etc.) could tell me how if possible i can use Daz studio characters of any type to then animate in Mixamo and go back into Daz, the best results i can get are the characters working in Mixamo as an OBJ but then if i try to reintroduce them into Daz the Animation is broken. the main issue being that the skeleton from DAZ (namely GEN3) is far too complex for Mixamo to auto rig or manual rig and the mixamo skeleton is so limited it keeps the model In tpose instead of moving around correctly. (still trying to get a reply on this from Mixamo's end as well but i don't beleive they are going to respond).
In blender the animation works but the skeleton is not connected to the mesh for whatever reason. if i could somehow make all my models have more basic simple skeletons without causing all the Daz studio poses i have to break that could possibly fix it however i haven't found a way to do this as i am not a pro at 3d software.

Genesis and Genesis2 use same bone structure and much simpler/few bones than with G3.  I'd work with G2 for experiments with DAZ animation.

  • i have heard that but as a majority of what i need the animation for is refrences and all the stuff i have is gen three it is a pain to deal with trying to convert the stuff backward to gen two or one when im not that good at using the softwares. it seems odd that the skeleton of G3 while exported into mixamo as obj can work well, and exported to blender can work although its disconnected from the model, but for daz it simply moves the t pose model around because for some reason the G3 skeleton cannot be limited and glitches out and except for buying them (to whiuch many of the sanimations don't even exist on the Daz site) you have to be lucky or skilled to fix the broken skeletons of the models.  biggest reason i cant just keep the models on Mixamo to use is because it lags so badly due to the models. i cant even see the animations properly.

is it possible to run a G1/G2 model through mixamo to get animations, then somehow convert it to G3 so it works better with the more advanced skeleton in Daz so i dont have to try to convert all my stuff over to G2.?

  • i tested a Gen 2 model and it still had a similar issue except it couldnt even show animations on mixamo properly from being sunken in the ground, and the previously done animations were still broken on the model in daz even though the skeleton should be working for Daz on the animations

Mixamo works with every DAZ generation until Genesis 3, which differs too much with the skeleton. I use a lot of Mixamo animations. I'm going to post some info w/in the next day or so in Novica's thread, as I had meant to do that a few weeks ago but life's been crazy. You can also look for the thread on Mixamo that says "solutions in thread."
