Can daz please fix autofit?
no bad words to the (SickleYield) vendor that take a good effort undertaken to improve the software with the,
Sickle Rigging and Morphing System is a three-part system for converting, rigging and morphing clothes for Genesis.
SRMS templates convert Gen 4 clothing to Genesis more accurately and with less distortion than Autofit while using the same Transfer Utility methods most of you already know...
For me another proof, that daz have to try to get autofit better and fix it.
it is still not working for shoe and boots.

DAZ3D did not create the autofit tool so they probably are not able to fix it. The autofit tool was created by EvilInnocence (the same person who made CrossDresser).
one thing to remember is that auto-fit was not always free. Was 69.99 at one point. So it's great they gave it away at all.
Oh, I did not know this. It seems we DS users are now rather spoiled with all the DS 4 features we take for granted... :)
Gen 4 flat shoes usually transfer OK. Heeled shoes of any kind for Gen 4, since the default position of the feet are angled down, for some reason won't transfer well. Even SY's upcoming product does not do a perfect job but greatly improved. I'm looking forward to it.
For Gen 3 figures, Hiro and David's shoes transfer over all but Michael 3's does not, nor Freak 3's. Not tried many of the Gen 3 gals since I don't have allot of their stuff.
Here is Dagon that was made for Hiro 3 (and I believe there is a Aiko 3 version as well). The boots came over nearly perfectly. I added a smoothing modifier and Sub-D'd the entire outfit as well. I tweaked the hell out of the material settings to get things popping nicely. Dagon was one of my all time favs and I'm glad that Genesis can now wear it.

A3 and V3 heels also have problems
Understandable since they put the feet in a non flat position. I think SY says she created some templates for Gen 3 feet positioning, perhaps with some tweaking they will work for Gen 3 shoes too? Not sure. She would have to comment on that. For me there are about 5 main styles of high heels for women and when you see 30 pairs in the store it's overkill. Between Gen 3 - 5 I have all the high heels I would ever want. And with all the shader packs out there it's easy enough to update the look of a pair to match a different outfit.
Created this for converting some shoes to Genesis w/o the crinkling effect. At least one other person got good use out of it...
I suppose your mileage may vary....

I thought to buy crossdresser 4 license for aiko 3, but now I change for victoria 4.

Granted we're all a little bit spoiled. But that doesn't change the fact that we need an autofit that works properly.

You don't need it you just want it.
DAZ should honestly stop buying out plugins that they either cannot or will not support in future. Yes, it's free and I'm happy that DAZ loves me so much they'll give me a broken toy for free just so that I don't end up bugging them for a refund but c'mon, Autofit could have been so much more already if they didn't buy it out. :(
Say, Miss SickleYield why don't you build us a new Autofit for scratch? Now there's and idea... But don't sell it to DAZ!!
At least someone is working on making it better. :D
*Snort* Because I'm not a coder. SRMS is a set of templates, which I was able to make using regular modeling and morph-uploading plus some copying things into folders. Anyone could have done it provided they were willing to spend the weeks I spent customizing all the morphs by hand, then repeatedly tweaking the boot template shapes.
Agreed...would be nice to see improvements/expansions to the Uber line and PWsurface. I'm not gonna fuss over Autofit though, its lower on my priority list compared to those two. I wouldn't mind dresses working better, but at least I can fix them with the tools in studio if I wanted to. And there are genesis dresses, and I could make my own when needed. Haven't figured out shader mixer though.
But I agree about buying out stuff and letting it die, like I said I'm sad about the shaders, I prefer to render outside of DS because of it.
This mirrors and elaborates on my statements a bit, there are tools in studio to fix clothes if you want to. Or just make your own. I appreciate your efforts and glad you are saving me time :) No need to learn coding just yet ;)

You bet there are. In fact, many people already use some variation on making their own templates. But one has to be willing to do the work. ;)

Right, I don't want to name vendors, but one vendor relatively recently added templates to autofit for two characters. People requested another vendor do the same and he refused. Someone recently made Horse1 template for the horse 2 so folks could use old content on the new horse(even though daz didn't). So it's out there for people certainly.
The problem is I for one would not know where to start when it comes to making templates for autofit. Which is precisely why I pay vendors to do it. So make it snappy.
At least you are willing to pay for it. I was upset when I initially found out that autofit was not free because the youtube video I saw at the time made it seem like it was free. It didn't go free for at least a few months, and when it did i was very happy. I appreciated the value. So while it was not perfect n 4.0, it did get better with 4.5. So it's not like Daz hasn't made any improvements to it at all. I don't use the transfer utility much anymore because of the fixes autofit got with 4.5. So for me I can't complain too, too much. Went from 69, to free, to improved! Not too bad.
This is an area that Daz has improved over the last year+. Some people don't see that at all, to get something even better I don't see a problem with investing a few coins. But some folks want everything for free.
Oh absolutely. I'm a firm believer in 'You get what you paid for' or 'If you pay for nothing you get nothing'. Of course this is not always the truth as especially in this environment there are a lot of quality free stuff making the rounds. But with software and plugins and the support thereof a vendor needs a reason to keep doing it. That reason is usually the fact that they get paid to do it. Heck, I wouldn't work for free so I don't expect others to work for free either. ;)

Kinda like a dude never has enough jock straps. I get it. I only have one black sexy jock strap by the way. No one to wear it for either! :P

Not even that much.
I can most definitely live without the further use of Gen 4 clothing and do so happily 99% of the time. In fact, I prefer complete Genesis remakes of most of these Gen > items, particularly hairs!
really?
so daz is nothing more then a connected group of bought plugins, putted in 1 program and call it studio?
is there one thing the daz team created in it's own devhouse?
i tought autofit was developed by the daz team?

Hah, I wonder what you'd say about Autodesk then.
But to be fair most of Studio was developed inhouse by DAZ. Genesis and all that goes with it is DAZ. It's just the absorbed plugins like UberSurface, Autofit, Morph Loader and so on that was created by 3rd party vendors.
Autofit does what it's meant to, it will convert any clothing item built around a specific figure to Genesis, and that is where the problem lies, it has to be built around the default "T" pose, most shoes and boots aren't built around that "T" pose.
To see if Autofit can use an item load it into an empty scene, zero it, then load in the figure it was originally built for and zero it as well (they all load with a memorized pose rather than the T pose), if the footware is a perfect fit without using 'Fit to' then there is a good chance it will convert quite well, if they don't even come close to fitting then you know autofit wont be able to convert it.
I knew that there had to be a trick to it...
I wish I knew how to make a modified autofit spec :/
