Best computer specs for 3Delight?

Hi,

I understand that 3Delight is CPU and not GPU dependent; im interested to know what computer specs is best to make fast 3Delight renders (processor, RAM, etc).

some say that a 6-core processor would do no change cos 3Delight on DAZ is limited to 4 cores only, is that true?

under 'optimal' computer specs - awesome processors and such, how long would a HD (say 1920x1080) render take, assuming render settings are at their default?

The more threads and RAM the computer has the better.

Xeons, AMD Ryzon, and the extreme I7 range.

No idea the max number of threads Studio can use. I'd raise a support ticket to get a definitive answer.

Thanks, would PC cooling be an issue just like how it is with iray? I have been under the impression that it isn't since 3DL renders are in general faster and not so consuming and 'heaty' like iray.

Instead of 'absuing' the graphics card liek Iray can do, 3Delight drives your CPU at 100%, so you'll want decent heat dissipation and cooling for, and around, your CPU.  You can use CPU affinity to reduce the number of threads/cores DS/3Delight uses which might help cooling a little (but will also increase render time).
