Kerry Bundle: Rasta Base with Kerry has visible scalp band

This is a more general question about getting the "hair band" or "visible scalp" in the Viewport.

I purchased the Kerry Bundle which included Rasta Tails Hair and the Kerry HD character. I figured adding the character, adding the base hair, and Fitting the hair to the character should just work.

But, I get a visible scalp that's the color of the hair. If I do an Iray render, I get this in my rendered image as well.

In the past when this happened, I usually just played with the Scale of the hair object, and I'd eventually get the scalp part small enough it would go into the characters head and be effectively invisible. But, particularly for this hair style, the corn rows start to look irregular if I try this trick. I tried the adjustments that came with Rasta hair, and I end up with the same problem - the corn rows start looking irregular; I guess I could get there with an hour of work, basically matching the transforms to the head shape.

I'm posting because this is a more general question about the hair/scalp band that is sometimes visible. I saw someone else had this problem, but it was only in their renders and it was because of the way their lights were set up. Mine occurs in the VIEWPORT, so light isn't an issue (BTW, I have a single Distant light).

This may not be applicable in your case because I can't tell where your figure is located, but if your figure is moved too far from world center (0, 0, 0), banding can occur. Try moving her back to world center by zeroing X,Y,Z translation and render again.

Thanks for the idea, but she was in World Center. I mean this was just, Load Character, Load [Base] Hair, Assign Color to Hair, Fit Hair to Character. I'd get the same thing (but White) if I don't assign color, BTW.

Rasta hair has an icon called "Rasta Tails Hair !Apply First.duf". You have to use this to apply the transparency maps that hide the skull cap. When you use that first, apart from the transparency maps, the hair will still be untextured and white, although the skull cap will now be invisible. After that, you can apply any of the textures and they will work as expected.

(Don't ask me where the icon is in Smart Content; I don't use that. You can probably find it by searching for "!apply", though. If you use the Content Library directory structure, the icon is at /People/Genesis 3 Female/Hair/OOT Rasta Tails Hair/MATS/Iray/Rasta Tails Hair !Apply First.duf)
