Released - Animation Four Wheeler Template (Commercial)
Car models are very specific and unique, we were trying to find out the simpliest way how to make cars move and adjust their poses via one template.
With Animation Four Wheeler Template you can setup everything in Daz Studio with this „Ghost“ Template. It works with all four wheeler cars, no need for special adjustments of animations.
Animations are fully based on physical simulation and converted to bone structure of the template. Very useful also in posing in static car renders.
There are 20 basic aniBlocks for Car Template on the flat ground.
2 animated rides in Terra Dome 3 – soft and hard suspension with 2 camera aniBlocks. This requires TerraDome 3 Iray.
Detailed tutorials Step by Step, one-click link is in Content.
So far this product ‘ll be one of a kind here in Daz3D - if during the using of Four Wheeler Template occurs some issue, Linday will make new quick tutorials ASAP.
Animation Four Wheeler Template is followed by Car Chase aniBlocks in Stonemason’s Urban Sprawl 3 ( roads 01 or 04 ). Animation is following the ground (road) geometry of Urban Sprawl 3.
Car Chase contains 3 different car chases for car A and car B with cameras, 2 cameras above the cars simulate a helicopter view with shaking.
There are 6 car aniBlocks and 12 camera aniBlocks.

this looks awesome.well done!
Excellent!
This is what you call the million dollar idea. Brilliant!
Thank you all, I really appreciate it. Linday
Looks great!
I have this in my cart but my question is can any car be animated in this way? How about
Sports Car Morris 1936
Yamaki GTX-R
Car Victoria
1973 Station Wagon
Hi, yes every car can be animated, you can set up everything according to our Tutorials, only car Viktoria and Yamaki are pretty low in basic state, so when setting up the Four Wheeler Template, wheels are indipendent from car body, car body can be adjusted to be a little higher. This also depends on animablock- of course animations for offroad are more suitable for offroad cars - but the basic animations and Car Chase shouldn't be problem. I understand that it is a new type of product and maybe confusing at first look, if you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask.
Note: We're in Middle Europe time zone...
I followed a few links, and there's a tutorial video on youtube that shows how you can add the template to any car and four individual tires.
I'm getting it anyway. But the video sure is confusing. When I saw it say something about select the wheel and the brake I was like whaaat?. Perhaps you can make a video with some verbal instructions instead of just music. I'm am totally not a car girl, I let my husband handle all that. I can barely open the hood of my car let alone know where the brake is!
I guess that you 've been watching tutorial 3... and you don't know which parts of your car you have to select... Do you want to use original car wheels ( from Car Viktoria etc.) or our presets on wheels? For beginning, I think using our wheel presets would be easier - it's tutorial part 2. Just let me know what step you don't understand.
By the way, thank you FirstBastion...
If there is an innovation of the year award I am nominating this.
My only gripe is that the selection of preset vehicles only includes one that I regularly use, the Ranger. I own all the ones included, mind you, but I have almost no use for 70+ year old car designs, as you can't even mix them with modern cars without it looking ridiculous. Hopefully there'll be some expansions to cover some more recent looking vehcles like Yamakis, Car Roland, Buggy, Limosine Prince, Double Decker Bus, sports car Emexon, etc.
Tutorial 2 shows how to use ANY 4 wheel vehicle with the STOCK Wheels. They just have some presets is all. I just did the Emexon in about 5 minutes after watching the tutorial once and then playing along. Tutorial 3 is how to take WHEELS from any vehicle and put them on onto the Animated one.
I bought the car chase animations but I can't figure out how to get the camera to work when you swap to a different camera view. I can pick 1 chase camera and it works all the way through (reset to all zeroes at frame one) but I need help swapping cameras.
This is the set up for camera swapping:
1. Load camera and reset pose - be sure that you are in 0 frame
2. Add first aniblock and make it shorter from backward
3. Load second aniblock, turn off REORIENT START and turn off SMOOTH TRANSITION between aniblocks - the green stripe shown on fig 2
4. Second aniblock and all following aniblocks need to have turned off REORIENT START and SMOOTH TRANSITION ( fig 3 )
First aniblock doesn't need it, but if you'll change the order of this first aniblock ( make it for example third aniblock) you'll need to do this.
Note: If you'd like to change other camera parameters, which are not in animablocks ( focal lenght, etc...), be careful - all changes are automatically written to key frames in timeline, so the best way is to make them in zero frame
We are preparing Scene from Promo Car Chase video, after I'll come back from teaching students, scene'll be "ready to release" here.
Made those changes but it still seems to lose focus of the cars at the aniblock changes. I am just using 1 camera correct?
Will be nice to have this as a 1 click option to modify and learn from.
Also really want the mesa offroad demo sample, too!
Here is link for NEW TUTORIAL- CAMERA SET UP - more user friendly ( no music LOL )... and original Promo Scene for Car Chase01- there is a helicopter, you'll have to turn it off in the viewport. Required products: Army Hybrid Vehicle, Pick'em Up Truck, Rotor-Heads UE1 and, of course Stonemason's Urban Sprawl 3
We all here know, that this kind of work is made by teams and on high end applications. Daz Studio has also usefull tools how to accomplish these kind of things, for example aniMate2 is very powerful and relatively simple to use, very similar tools are in Motion Builder and Cinema C4D. With this product we wanted to make the most of its potential.

Aha! I did not have them as sub-tracks to the Camera1. Thanks very much.
Do you mind sharing the 4WD mesa demo original? Did you custom keyframe heights off the base ground for that one?
Here is the Mesa Original Scene, material on Terra Dome is custom - it's Stonemason's layering shader from Urban Sprawl 3, in this set up we 've been using mix of textures from Terra Dome and US3. Some of original Terra Dome shaders probably don't have right texture projection and they are sliding during animation ( maybe it is fixed already). We used Smooth Modifier when tires contact with ground ( see tires parameters tab, you can use it in next scenes, when Smooth Modifier is on the ground, you can simulate drive in soft terrain), that can slow down your realtime preview. I don't quite understand your question, could you please explain it further?
In the scene, there is used also DA Let it Snow for B Zone of Terra Dome
Hello,
I purchased the "Animation Four Wheeler Template" a couple days ago. I do think it's a cool concept but I was stratching my head about a few things. At first it seemed that the only way to animate the template was with the Animate Plugin and the first thing I wanted to do was to animate a really fast "pedal to the medal" car tire spin burnout start, like the beginning of a get away scene and I noticed that all the included anim blocks were just too slow. But then it accurred to me to covert your "AFWT Start End 70m" anim block to studio keys and with the help of Keymate and Graphmate I was able to animate a fast "pedal to the medal" car start with included extra rear wheel tire spin and hull tilt. I only animated the template (minus a car body) for now but it seems like it will work. One question though, instead of animating both rear wheels separetly I tried animating the shaft to spin both rear wheels but the rear wheels did not spin on thier centers and were wobbly. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
I almost ask for my money back untill I figure out that I could customize the animations. Overall it's a nice product. Maybe you should add (or release) more anim blocks for it though as not every one will be able to keyframe custom animations easily if they dont own Keymate or Graphmate.

Hi,
Every car has different bone structure, so it is impossible to make one animation for more cars without using any template. The main idea of this product was to make physically based animations which are only able to make complex realistic movements. It would be pointless to make these animations only for one car, so we 're trying to find a way how to animate any car. Bone structure of Template is made for transferring animations and possible corrections from external application to Daz. Basic pack of aniblocks didn't contain the type of animation you had in mind, this was only basic Template pack and one expansion pack ( Car Chase ), other will follow, but we needed some feedback - like what kind of animations would people like, we can animate almost every car movements LOL
About shaft - no it is not bug, Daz was unable to import combination of rotations of shaft and wheels, so wheels are animated independently from shaft.
When you are baking aniblocks to studio keyframe, you need to select chassis bone and turn off rotation limits - if you don't do so, animation won't be baked properly, especially wheels up-down movements even thought they have no limits.
Speed - you can speed aniblocks up if needed, or slow'em down.

Superb work here. Glad to see this doing well in the store.
Just tried it out yesterday and today. Very easy to use with the cars it was based on (all of which I have). I've done two animations, you can see them here. Great product, hope you crate more add-ons.
I'm glad you like it, we're planning to make add-ons, ( maybe a driver LOL), we are only deciding what will be in them...in the meantime have a lot of fun

Tried it on two more vehicles: fire engine and biplane. These use the template preset with the prop parented to the template.
Wow, the idea with the fire engine without wheels set up is really useful for big city ( highway) scenes with traffic. It is quick and simple.
Biplane- really awesome! I've used jump aniblocks from the half of the jump and biplane was landing...
Got this and just started playing with it. Thanks for the videos on how to marry this to a different vehicle. Couple things:
--none of the stock vehicles that come with the product are loading for me. They all say "some assets need....were missing." Not sure why any of these assets would be in a different inaccessible location than anything else I use DIM to install.
--I did marry the template to a pick-up truck. created wheels on the template. Made invisibile the wheels on the turck. then parented the truck to the template. BUT...for some reason the driver's wheel pops out to one side when I apply an aniblock. the other wheels stay in the wheel well save for the driver's wheel...weird.
--the wheels are really skinny so I have to scale them thicker, which also makes the inner "drum brake?" element really thick and obviously not correct.
Hi, the vehicles are not a part of this product, list is in required products - if this is the issue.
Which pick-up did you use? If it is DzFire pick-up, it is in the scene attached above in this thread prepared for animation. Or, if it is some other pick-up, just let me know.
You can attach your scene and we'll look at it if you 'd want.
