Install Manager does not see zips

Hi everyone!

I have several problems with DAZ Studio and Install Manager. I have reinstalled the both several times with deleting everything and cleaning with CCleaner, but nothing helps.

I've tried to search by myself but after 2 days of constant research I honestly give up. So:

1)I want to install a sword that I purchased for free and I want to install it manually, but for some reason Install manager does not see it, even if it is in the right folder. Please check the screenshots.

2) It seems that my content library is damaged, (screenshot 3), however in Install Manager everything is downloaded.

I've asked daz helpdesk but they take their time on answering... I would really apreciate any help, guys!

Thanks!

In the Install Manager preferences is the Downloads tab showing that folder as the location fro downloads?

You should not be isntalling content to the downloads folder - and if you really want to you need to tell daz Studio that you have done so. The default paths that the application uses are C:\Users\Public\Docuemnts\My Daz 3d Library and C:\Users\YOU\Documents\Daz 3D\Studio\My Library - if you want to use a different location you need to tell Daz Studio where it is in the Content Directory manager, Edit>Preferences>Content tab in Daz studio.

Yes,  please look at the screenshot, to the left you can see the folder, that I opened manually (C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads) and to the right it is the folder that I chose from Install Manager.

And the second problem, which is that Daz does not see Genesis 2 and 1 and some other files (like tutorials) - I did not change anything, I have just installed everything as it was recommended (except installing Das Studio on D drive). But these problems started to appear after reinstall.

You changed the path for instalaltion in DIM, that isn't the default, so you do need to check that you have the path set in DS too (or reisntall your content to another location that you add to DS too).

I attached the current DS settings that I have, and yes, they are different, but I thought that it should be like that and that the files in IM Download folder are all temporary...aren't they? Sorry for being a noob, it is really my third day in Daz and it is kinda tough..) So do you mean that in DS I should change the paths for all current directories to the C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads or to the folders that I have in D:/ hard drive? indecision

If you select the folder you isntalled to for the Daz Studio Formats and Poser Formats (you can add it, it doesn't ahve to replace the existing ones. Don't chnage the Connect directory, that has nothing to do with content isntalled via DIM (that's for content installed via the Smart Content or Install panes in Daz Studio - you may want to chnage it to put it in a convenient place, but it's a separate decision).

yesss, that has resolved the second problem with basic content missing, thank you a lot! yes smiley

Now I have to find a solution for Install Manager that does not see the downloaded zip...

Can you go to Settings > Downloads in DIM and post a screen shot?

Yes, sure, thanks for willing to help! Unfortunately, I will be back to my PC only tomorrow evening, so I will come back tomorrow smiley

Is this sword .zip a DAZ freebie or downloaded from somewhere else? The DIM installer only works on DAZ .zip archives, there are special files inside the .zip that define how the content files are installed, and how D|S can find them. Anything that isn't from DAZ will have to be installed manually, which varies from simple to awkward, depending on the skill of the content creator.

Where did you get it from, and what exactly is it? Someone here should be able to guide you through a manual installation, if that becomes necessary.

    It's a Daz freebie.

    Hello everyone!

Yes, it is Daz freebie :)

I think that I have found a solution that is not the one that I was looking for but still gets the job done: I have simply created a new library, put the sword inside and added a new path in DS, and voilà, it works!

Just FYI the sword shows in install manager as ready to be downloaded so I think that there will be no problems with getting content from the shop.

Big thanks to everyone who participated !!
