Stretched Cararra 8.1 AVI file in Premiere CS6

edited December 1969 in Carrara Discussion

I'm having a problem with bringing in an AVI (raw) file from Carrara 8.1 to Premiere CS6. I get the same problem with any sequence file types (I used .JPEG). This problem only happens when creating a movie instead of a current frame image.

The problem is that in the movie, the images get stretched horizontally when brought into Premiere. A current frame image does not get
stretched and is perfect. My original video in Premiere is 1440x1080i anamorphic image. My output from Cararra is setup at 1440x1080.

Any idea why the movie (and seq images) from Cararra is stretching and the current frame image is not? I'm on a deadline and would appreciate a response ASAP. Thank you.

What's Premiere's native video codec? Do you have that option when exporting your AVI? My guess is it has something to do with the anamorphic setting. Does it looked stretched when rendered and fed to a video monitor?

Here's a Wikipedia article. It's a bit techie but it may explain why you're getting the squeezed image.

Here's another geared more towards film:

    nth Dimensions
I work with Carrara video output into Sony vegas pro at 1440x1080 all the time.
I think your problem may be that 1440x1080 uses rectangular pixels not square.
I set my renders at a true 1920x1080 from Carrara using square pixels. and import that into Vegas and it works just fine.
Another option would be to render 1440x1080 and change the pixel aspect ratio in your render settings.
I believe 1.3333 is the correct ratio, but I don't use this method so I am not sure.
One thing I noticed in you render, Your frame is not 16x9 it's more square, so when you use one of the above methods
carrara will change the framing a bit.

More like the video editor will change it.

To 8068: setting the Image Aspect Ratio in Cararra did the trick. It's default is 1.0 and I changed it to 1.333. I could also see the production frame change as shown in your images. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
