Request for returning YoungTeens3 Head & Body Morphs to the Shop

Hi DAZ/Everybody,

I already mentioned this request a couple of times hidden in threads, but now I finally submitted a request ticket to the Help Desk, and got a very kind reply by Britney. She will forward it to marketing, but she recommended that I should place a public request on the forum as well to catch more attention. So I open a new one here to have it a bit more focused, and here it comes...

I would request that DAZ should bring back the "Head & Body Morphs" item to the shop for Laura & Luke (aka "Millenium Teens" Gen3) that used to be this item:
http://www.daz3d.com/catalog/product/view/id/2768

Why do I request this? For quite a couple of reasons (on top of the fact that I would love to buy it myself).

The entire "Gen3" series is still available for purchase and it is quite a huge "fleet" of models: Victoria3, Michael3, Stephanie3, David3, Aiko3, Hiro3, YoungTeens3 (Laura & Luke), YoungKids3 (Matt & Maddie).

For all of these models you can still buy either the base model, or a complete package of the base mesh with the original head & body morphs. In those cases, where the head & body morphs are not included in the bundles, they are still for sale as a separate items (like Victoria3 and Michael3).

There is only one single exception to this, and that's the YoungTeens3 morphs, where you can only buy the base:
http://www.daz3d.com/millennium-kids-young-teens

Just for example, for the YoungKids3:
http://www.daz3d.com/millennium-kids-preschoolers
there are still the morphs for sale:
http://www.daz3d.com/preschoolers-morphs

Why do I think that's a bad thing? For a lot of reasons...

Most of all: I've seen quite some models based on Laura (mostly "Swinging London" 60s styled characters) that actually depend on the head & body morphs settings, so without availability of the original package, these are useless today. And there are also custom made meshes that are based on the (copyrighted) DAZ morphs, that need to be encoded (like RTE) against the original DAZ .cr2 in order to prevent illegal distribution.

For that reason alone it makes perfect sense to keep the most basic and essential meshes and morphs available legally, and the fact that even the Gen2 models are still available as well shows that DAZ supports this and "helps us" to "protect them" in this respect.

But on top of this there are also artistic reasons to keep this, even if it is a legacy model. There was never a Gen4 version of Laura, and there is no "iconic shape" of her for Genesis. There are reasons for this, and I guess it makes sense for DAZ.

But... this makes it especially odd to remove just this package, while the YoungKids3 morphs (where an upgrade *does* exist by The Kids4) still exist!

The only way to use the "Laura Shape" is and remains to use the old Gen3 model, and (different to some single shirts and shoes and hats and whatever) the head & body morphs are plain essential. So please (DAZ) bring it back.

Just to make one thing clear: I don't request putting any time and money into any new development! Creating a Laura shape for Genesis (as requested in the past) would need a lot of time, skill and work, and if DAZ doesn't believe to re-earn this effort with sufficient sales, I will never argue this.

But all that I request now is to bring back a model that already exists!

Judging from the YoungKids3 package it is another partial Runtime with a set of Pose files for morph injections (and the !DAZ folder for it).

All that they need to do is: put this existing Runtime into a ZIP archive, synch the filename with a shop entry, setup a price and that's it. I doubt that this will take more than 5 minutes to do and probably less than replying to just one single customer (like me) who requested it directly by a Help Ticket... ;-)

I believe that this is a reasonable request, and even if only some 20 people would buy it in the near future it would still pay back the very little time and effort that it takes to bring back this one little ZIP into the shop.

Thanks for your attention, and - please DAZ - consider it... :-)

Cheers,
MartinC

You need to address this to DAZ itself, by opening a support ticket.

What about filing a bug report as well? That way people can add their own notes to the report as well. I already have the head & body morphs but I definitely see your reasoning for the newer users.

If you actually read the first paragraph of my text, you may notice that I sent a ticket to ZenDesk indeed, and got a reply by Britney who recommended to post it here as well. Sending the ticket again may lead into an infinite loop that eventually swallows ZenDesk, the Forum, DAZ, the world and the universe-as-we-know-it... (just kiddin') ;-)

Well, it has been about 3.5 months since the last post. I still don't see any change in the product line-up. Hopefully we can see something soon.

Well, it's now Christmas and still no change in DAZ's product line-up concerning YoungTeens3 Head and Morphs. I fear I am the only one who is monitoring this thread. If anyone connected to DAZ sees this reply, be it known I am not alone. Please reconsider and bring back this product. Thanks.:)

I've noticed (while compiling the free resources list for David 3, Matt, Maddie, Luke and Laura) that there are quite a few morphs for Laura out there that make her look like an adult Asian woman. (This makes some sense for Japanese figures, with the height and build of the average adult Japanese female still noticeably smaller than the height and build of the average adult western female despite the improved nutrition available in Japan nowadays.) Thing is, these morphs can't be used without Laura's Morphs and Maps pack.

The "petite adult female" body type doesn't appear to be well-supported by Genesis (although I'm not really looking for such support); the closest I've seen is the Stephanie 4 iconic shape, and that isn't really close to what these Laura morphs are intended for. If such support really doesn't exist, there's still a need for the Laura character and morphs.
