Content Directories

Howdy all!

Long, looooong time Poser now giving Daz3D a good, hard look because I like what I see coming from it, as well as content made for it. So, I installed the latest, 4.9.3.166.

Let me explain something about my system first. My C drive is a 120GB SSD. It's for loading Win7 and it's fast! My D: drive (2TB) and E: drive (2TB) are for my applications and data. Since C: is so small (120GB) I want to keep it as clean as possible and only for the OS. So I installed Daz on my D: drive along with Poser Pro 11 (and yes they coexist peacefully!) and pointed everything asked of me for installation purposes, like paths, etc., to the D drive. So far so good.

Then I started d/l'ing via Daz, available content like Gen3 figures and such. Wanting to see the directory makeup, I went looking for the content and hmmmm, I saw it taking up space on my C: drive. I specifically did not want this and thought I directed all pathway creation to the D: drive. I must have missed a step (not really, but for arguments sake, I'll claim I did.)

Now I know the Content Directory Manager will let me modify things, but I get warnings about relative path references being broken and existing content will fail when trying to load them, etc. if I press on.

I understand and heeded the warning, so my simple question: how do I now keep everything working but working (*everything*) off my D: drive?

Thanks!

Sam

In Content Directory Manager, change the path for "Daz Connect Data" to your D: drive, then close DS and move the folder from the C: drive to your new location.

  • Fixmypcmike, figured it might be that easy, but wanted confirmation before I commited. Thanks! Worked like a charm!
