Reinstalling Daz 3D Studio over possibly corrupted version

I have been using Daz 4.9 for a little while and consider myself a bit of a newbie although I usually manage to get just the results I am looking for. Alas, this morning I encountered a problem I have never experienced before.  When I try to use vertical and horizontal "tiling" on the surfaces tab at some point during my adjustments the image I am trying to position suddenly goes randomly haywire and all I get is a jumble of pixels that no longer respond to any commands.Once it does this no amount of tinkering will get the image to return and I have to start the whole process again, mostly to no avail. I have used this function many times over without issues and never experienced such a complete out of control "muddle". I can only deduce that the program, and this function in particular, is somehow corrupted.

I am using a very simple model, nothing complicated with no backgrounds and mostly using  black and white images. I have tried changing out the model but the problem remains no matter what model I try. Everything else works normally.

As I am in the middle of an urgent project and need a quick fix to this issue  I decided that maybe I should download a new version of Daz to deal with it directly.

Before I proceed I have a few pertinent questions:-

1/ Is there anything I can do to correct this problem "before" I attempt to replace the program ?

2/ If I do download a new version do I need to uninstall the old version first ?

3/ With a new version installed, will I still be able to open any older files without problems of connectivity ? Will these files just open as they did previously ?

4/ Will all my old files and folders remain in their correct locations or will I have to spend time shuffling them all back to their rightful locations without ending up with dozens of duplications ?

If anyone can point me in the right direction to get me up and running again it would be very much appreciated.

I am using a Mac Pro running OS 10.7.5 I have used my Mac disc repair utility and everything seems to be OK.

 Thanks

  Peter

1 - this isn't an issue I've come across before, as far as I can recall, so I'm not sure what else you can try - restarting DS doesn't help?

2 - no, that will be done for you

3 & 4 - yes, old scenes and content should work - unistallind and reinstalling doesn't touch settings or content (at least, not as far as 4.9.x.x are concerned.

    Richard

thanks for the reply, I have decided based on your answer to just go ahead and do a re-install.

However, when I go to my account to download the 32 bit Daz 4.9 Studio version (I do not have a 64 bit Mac) with my install manager, all I get is the option to download the 64 bit version. How do I ensure that I download the correct version if it doesn't show up anywhere on my install manager tab for Ready to Download ?

When I press the manual download all I get is a "Failed Page" connection

     Thanks again for your help

Click the "Download Filters" button at the top of the "Ready to Download" tab and make sure Mac and 32-bit are ticked.

Thanks for the suggestion but strangely the only Daz items that show up in the filters list are " Daz Studio 3 Promo Video : Map Transfer and "Interactive Lessons for Daz Studio 4.9" as well as Daz Tutorials. There is no sign of the actual Daz Studio 4.9 application anywhere in that list, 64 bit or 32 bit ????

Download filters are in DIM.  What is indicating that you're getting a 64-bit version?  Downloading from Product Library seems to be working for me.
