I would like more clothing for Michael and other males. I hear they don't sell well, but, from my perspective that is what I alway buy- if they are a reasonable price.

I would like some good high res rocks and stones and mountains for scenary, not just backdrops. I own everything the store sells, however, sometimes I find the older stuff not as realistic as I would like.

I'd like some realistic planets, for sci-fi renders.

I would like more science fiction interiors of a practical nature like bedroom, office etc. I do have lots of cooridoors, hangars and exterors.

I'd like more ways to make a nice vista so I can design my own backdrops and not use Bryce. =-)

    But...

My tired old system can't run Genocide! The open GL requirements make D|S 4.X unusable!! Can't upgrade the video card drivers, as there is no video card. So I am left out of the whole Genocide Game.

But I can run Carrara and many other high end Video and 3D apps, so I'm not concerned.

    Genocide is for humans anyhow.

And I still refuse to believe people prefer humans to Cows for their 3D Art!

This is a man who truly loves cows. I think at least 99.9% of your posts makes reference to them at least once. Still I have to admit that animals are one of the lesser trod roads in the marketplace. There are plenty of creatures available, sure, but very few of them recent and not quite as much variety in terms of poses, morphs or texture additions...

    Only 99.9%??

    I must be slipping...

    Meanwhile over at Mootown Records:

    Nice one!

    See? Cows make everything cooler!!

What kind of items does the community need/want, both category and specific?

I'm just interested, because I was thinking I'd start with some sci-fi guns and an escape pod, but if they don't sell / nobody wants them, why bother. I'm just getting to know my clientele.

    Thanks.
Probably what sells best are sexy women clothes.
There is not that much male clothing out there, so I want more of those myself, and better yet if it’s for Genesis.
But yeah, I think women clothes and characters are the most commercial stuff out there.

Do costumes have to be custom made to fit an exact character template or just Victoria type base model? Does it use some kind of deformation file to fit it?

For Genesis I create for the default base and then the clothes will adapt automatically to all shapes. But I like to do custom morphs to replace the auto generated ones.
This is what I do for clothing, I don’t know if it answers some of your questions about it:

Technically that's true about the sexy women's clothing, but on the other hand - look at the Platinum Club. These are the items that DAZ has bought out and believes will recoup their significant investment over a long period even at only $1.99 per item. Very few of them fit that mold. There's nothing wrong with making titillating female clothes, but it's possible to forge another business model if you work at it, is all I'm saying. What's important is visual detail and great promo renders.

Also true Sickle, that can be 'make or break' in some cases.
But that said I am for instance, not in to fantasy stuff / fairies / warriors etc at all, so no matter how good it looks, Im really not going to buy it.
But I dont know how many other Daz customers are like me in that sense. (Only sticking to certain genres)

Steinway D Model 9' concert grand piano

There is a nice piano here, for both DS and Poser. The Poser textures look a bit disappointing though compared to the promos, haven't tried it in DS yet, so I'm not sure it they are DS renders or what.

As for the manor, there is one included in this package:

EDIT: Oops, just realized that the village package is for Carrara, not sure if it will work in or can be imported into DS from Carrara.

    a three piece suit

    Ahem hem hem.

I considered that for the fedora and vest alone, are there any renders where it's not folding/warping along the edges and doesn't have those permanent creases near the elbows though? I can't tell if that's built in or not, and I'd be more interested in it if it had clean lines. It looks too worn/broken in for my purposes right now even with 'new fabric' textures.

    Love the square shoulders though.

The elbow creases are built in. Wrinkles are one of the things that are very mandatory to getting most clothing items accepted, as having them permanently there is more realistic than having them permanently absent.
Pity. If my dress pants/jacket had a permanent creasing pattern like that for real I wouldn't be too happy. It's far easier to add that kind of thing than to remove it, and it looks quite as unrealistic as smooth fabric once the figure moves to a stance where that sort of wrinkling wouldn't appear.

However, I didn't realize before that the addon packs came separate... I may have to get that fedora yet. :)

    Cows.

    Everybody needs more Cows!

And Naughty Skankwear Sets for the Cows always sell out (I know they are sold out, because there are none left in the store!)

When The Millennium Cow is released, all human figures will be discontinued, as they will become obsolete.

    You need to make Cows.

    Trust me.

Millennium Cow? What about the Genesis Cow? Is everyone just pretending this figure doesn't exist anymore?

    Genocide?

I can't speak for everybody, but I'm sure pretending that figure doesn't exist.

Humans are passe, a thing of the past. The future of all 3D Content is Cows!!

The Gods Themselves told me this to be true at out last game of Mahjong.
    :ohh:

The Genesis Cow is a holy relic and should not be spoken of thusly.

    You heretic.

...@ the Grand Piano: not accurate at all as the proportions and geometry of the "bent side" are completely wrong. Granted I have played and tuned pianos so I am a bit jaded especially when it comes to my Rhapsody in Shadow story which requires a "proper" grand piano for a number of scenes.

Other than the Kawai EX Concert grand available on Turbosquiid (for 124$) nobody has yet offered an accurate 3D model of a real 9' concert grand piano. I'm actually surprised that Ness hasn't done one yet considering the Harpsichord model (which even has rigged keys and is based on an 18th century Flemish "single" - e.g. one keyboard) which he released a couple years ago.

On the English Village, yes, if cannot be imported into Studio 4.5 or Poser as if is a .car file.

Not really up on pianos but there are several grand pianos (and uprights) here: Music instrument models

I have the one from MOSTDigital that Adam did. It's the best I've seen so far and it's easy enough to adjust the shaders.

Kids stuff would be nice for Genesis. While there are K4 items, I haven't seen a lot of things recently that are geared to support this niche. Genesis clothes designed specifically for the younger morphs haven't been fully explored. Many of the clothes for Genesis don't look right when worn by youngsters. Not because they don't fit, but more because they seem... "off" would be a good a term as any, I guess.

I'd love a realistic water/beach scene. I can make water planars but they just don't look all that nice. Would like some sand and surf!

Also, would like 'less perfect' skins. One of my favorites has freckles, blemishes and spots. Those teens look too perfect with their alabaster skin, but I'd like a truly freckled skin for a light skined african american and for a fair skinned charater. Sunburn and wet skins for gen 5 would be nice too. Also exotics, like alien etc.

I'd like a few 'normal characters. I have trouble with Vicky, because she is often too slender or overly pretty. Normal guys and girls would be interesting. Perhaps even a nerdy or slobby pack,; So you could also add some geeky accessories that aren't hip and cool..

Fix Horse 2 so it is useable with its sadle bridle and reins. I loved this model, but how often can your character go bareback because the saddle and bridle aren't poseable or useful to your average character?

Easy pose indiana jones whip and clothing.

Would love a one piece jumpsuit, not form fitting and clingy, suitable for space garb, setllers, prisoners, utility workers, etc. Something witth morphs to roll up sleeves, add a tool belt etc.

Western outfits and gear for cowboys, includin hat and trench coat neck scarf etc.

..I've already checked these as well as many other free and store sites..

Actually have one of the uprights from the archive site which I use in some of the Zagreb scenes during the occupation.

The MDC model has the wrong key configuration (the standard 88 note piano keyboard begins at Sub Contra A not C).

To some it may seem a bit nit picky, however, as this story centres around Leela's musical career (which was interrupted by the occupation in 2053) accuracy is a bit more important as there are a number of close-up and concert stage scenes with her at the instrument.

Alas the Turbosquid Kawaii, aside form being expensive, is only available in 3ds/3ds Max, C4D, Lightwave, Softimage, and Maya formats.

Kind of like doing say a WWII story where the main character is an RAF pilot who flies a Hawker Hurricane in many of the scenes. It better look like a Hawker Hurricane (and those ME 109s or FW-190s he's shooting at ought to be correct as well) or be prepared for a lot of unfavorable critique.

As an occasional WW2 Aviation nerd..... here here ! :)
A few year back I bought 3 WW2 aircraft from Squid at about $25-30 each with the intention of modding them in to a Sim with a bunch of models I made myself. While one of them was great (A P38 lightning), the other two (Sunderland & Swordfish) were totally unfit for purpose -Bad UVs, horrible smoothing groups and triangulated topology.
Ive been too scared to purchase from Squid ever since.

...I don't shop there simply because of the prices and the fact most of the models are in formats for apps I don't use or can afford. Many are not even rigged.

If you buy something from Turbosquid and its not in a format you can use, you can ask them for a conversion.
