Is there anyway to get rid of the grid (the ground)?  When I render my image the grid cuts a straight line into my base object and it makes it look weird.

The grid shouldn't render, unless you are using the basic OpenGL mode. Anyway, you can hide it (for the benefit of future readers of thsi thread) from the Viewport option menu - click the lined  button in the top corner or right-click the tab.

  • Is there a way to completely DELETE the floor (so that it doesn't block render regardless of camera location)?

  • I assume you mean something other than the floor drid. If you mean the ground in Iray, there is a draw Ground check box in the Environment group in Render Settings.

If you're in iray - go to render settings: Environment: Draw ground - off

If it's an actual floor prop you're having trouble with - delete it from the scene tab

Edit: slow loading tabs for me - ninja'd by Richard
