Super Frustrated 3D Artist in need of Help
I’m posting here because I need help from two different forums (Carrara & Daz Studio). I figured it would better to post here than have dual postings on the same topic.
Background…
Over 6 years ago, I started working on a project an animation, I modeled a highly detailed model of a Fire Engine/Pumper and I have been buying different props I need for the scenes. I made the Engine Crew using Michael 4 with the older morphs for Poser (Poser 7). I even made some custom props for the Real World Heroes Police Officer M4H4. I could import them into Carrara 8 Pro (8.1.0.153) without any problems.
Last October I updated to a new Computer (Windows 7 Pro with 32GB ram) and to Daz Studio 4.5 Pro.
The Problem…
I’m unable to import (using the Content tab) the Engine Crew in C8P (8.1.0.153) without the morphs poking through and my converted Wedge Hair 2 from M3 to M4 doesn’t stay intact/in place. So I thought okay maybe I would have better luck with C8P (8.5.0.132)-The beta, Therefore I downloaded it last weekend and I can’t even load the 32.8 MB Fire Engine in C8.5P-Beta. I can load the Fire Engine in C8P (8.1.0.153) just fine.
I could use any & all advice on what to do?
Thank you,
Comments
how did you convert the hair and clothes?
using crossdresser?
or another program like wardrobe wizard
by vertex manipulation?
are you using magnets to fit it to M4
can you use morph follower on the clothes in Daz studio then save as a new cr2 or morph pose using the save to cr2 or Poser format exporter
DS4 also has a cr2 export option.
can you go into the vertex room and use softselect to pull out pokethrough bits or create new morphtargets?
can you save the Fire pump in C8.1 as a .car file and open it in C8.5?
how did you convert the hair and clothes?
The clothes are original made for M4 & I used Hair Conversion System II for Michael 4 to convert the hair.

No

The only Magnets that I used was on the hair in Poser 7.

I don't know that, I'm still learning DS4.

I'm not sure because the Vertex Room and I just don't get along, I'm more of a Hexagon 2.5 (2.5.0.5)
can you save the Fire pump in C8.1 as a .car file and open it in C8.5?
That how I did it, Here is my workflow, Hexagon 2.5>C8P(for scaling)\Coredraw(Texturing)>UVMapper Pr0(UV mapping)>C8P(for Final touches)
Sometimes when I import something saved into Carrara, I get a lot of poke-through. If I select the item and un-parent it from the figure, then re-parent it the poke-through goes away--it works most of the time. I'm not sure if that's what's happened to you or not, though.....it's worth a try.
What are you export settings?
What are your import settings?
Which part are you talking on the "Crew" or on the Engine?
The "Crew" is via the runtime folder through in the Content tab.
The Engine is the Wavefront (.obj).
it is a puzzling one.
an obj should import the same in all versions, unsure what is going on there.
M4 & V4 also load the same in all builds and the beta, Genesis being the exception needing 8.5.
my morphed figures always gave me pokethrough.
regardless of version
morphing clothes and crossdresser were my solution for Carrara and Poser7
or I used the morph brush in Poser or soft vertex selection in Carrara
but this is not just in one build or version, had the issue since Carrara5!
hiding bodyparts and creating new shading domains to turn opacity down on my other workaround.
