DAZ Install Manager: Hangs for HOURS !!! When first started after installation ...

I have just downloaded and installed the brandnew DAZ Install Manager; because it seems to be necessary now in order to get access to newly ordered items ...

After having started it for the first time, it ran already for HOURS !!! And is STILL running ! Without any UI/Messages having been displayed ... And it consumes a lot of the CPU resources, too ! My DAZ Studio runtime is quite crowded; so I could imagine that it takes some time for the first check ... But running for hours cannot be correct DIM behaviour ? Please tell me what could go wrong !

There is no need to use the install manager if you don't want to. You can still download everything in the same way as before. I just downloaded a bunch of stuff that I bought a few minutes ago and I do not use the install manager.

They don't provide the link to your downloads any more when you get the purchase confirmation, but it's still under your account. I didn't have any problem with the install manager hanging up, but I do find that even after refreshing, it seems to take forever to find my new purchases. Grrrr. Want NOW. refresh . . . refresh . . . refresh . . .

Actually the connection problems are because DIM has gone public, Free to All. So the servers are very busy. If DIM does not connect in a timly manner close it and then try again.

Good to hear the legacy access to ordered items is still available ! But nonetheless: From what I have read so far, the DIM can be invaluable for owners of a whole DAZ items galore ! Re-installing the whole DAZ item galore from scratch the old-fashioned way seems to be like a nightmare to me ! I am currently considering to create a new hard disk partition from scratch; and see mainly two alternatives for the DAZ item galore:
    - Backup the legacy runtime and restore it in the newly created partition
    - Use the DIM to do the whole installation from scratch automatically

So yes: It would be VERY FINE if the DIM could be used for a whole installation from scratch ! So I am VERY MUCH interested in making it run like a charm :-) !

You will probably need to use the DIM at off-peal times to get full benefit. When these times are, you can find out by trial and error, but it depends greatly on where you live. If people simply download everything that they have ever bought from DAZ 3D, then the servers are going to be very busy for the foreseeable future.

I can use mine in the mornings with few problems.

I have just installed the DIM into another Win XP Pro SP3 partition; which is much more barebone. And there the DIM startup is smooth and the DIM UI appears almost immediately !

    So this issue:
    - Has probably nothing to do with internet connections and/or crowded runtimes
    - Is very weird to me ! There seem to be some disturbing DLLs and/or processes on my relative chock-full partition

My current workaround would be: Use the DIM only from within the more barebone partition ...

I'm trying to install Hexagon and it's telling me it requires the download manager and my manager installation is freezing. Is there another way to install hexagon?

If you go to your Product Library you will find that you should be able to download one of the older installers. The .exe file is for windows and the zip file there is for the Mac.
