simple sky sun settings for dummies

I know Physically based render engines love their latitude longitute date time parameters for sun direction.
but
instread of swallowing a sextant and a compass and getting out the atlas every time I set up a scene
maybe another sun mode that just moves the thing any direction around the sky visually for dummies who want a shadow to be cast a certain way or the sun to fall on a certain angle on a face by looking at it would be good.
I have had a camera set up as a sun node suggested but it this could just be part of the environment options besides dome and sky etc say visual sun mode and a sky disc with a dot you move around.

or otherwise 4 sliders North south east west ....
or maybe a link sun to distant light option .....
Have you looked at the SunDial prop? You can also define a node, such as a camera, as the Sun Node in Render Settings and use that to aim.
there's a SunDial prop?
Yes, it's in the Render presets.
