Inquiry for interest: Look at my Hair for Poser

  • What I'd like to know is whether we'll be able to render the hair directly in Firefly.  And in Cycles, I suppose, since we're apparently getting that renderer now.  Or will we have to export the hair to obj first?

It is too early to be able to answer this question.  I have to get things working with Poser again before anything else can move forward.

Just wondering if this was ever created...?

I don't think so, but if it ever is finished, I'm interested. Have seen what it can do in DS, would love the same for Poser because the Poser hair room drives me so bananas that I end up pulling my own hair out every time I try to use it. Looking forward to LAMH the Poser Edition.

Well... yes and no.  Is it an available product?  No.

It is a very complicated issue (not just on the technical side)

  • Just putting my hat IN for a Poser version of LAMH. I would absolutely LOVE to be able to use hair presets interchangeably between Poser and Studio. (Since I use both)

    Any news on this front?

    Thanks!

LAMH Fiberhair will load just fine in Poser, so that is one option (albeit not optimal).  As to the other options, I am not currently at liberty to publicly discuss the situation.

Yes, definitely! I own the DAZ version, would happily get it for Poser as well. I use both programs and like having the same tools in them whenever possible. I did the same for the Reality plugin.

Sounds like politics ... or a crime novel (If I tell you, I would have to kill you? *grin*)

Sounds like SM shooting themselves in the foot yet again . . .

You don't know whether it is SM or Daz3d ...

  • Because of Poser structure and the lack of an available SDK, there is no way to have an integrated plugin as LAMH is to DAZ.

But there are other options that I've discussed already with SM guys, and I'm close to setting things up (or give up if there are not the necessary conditions).
Can't disclose any more information at this time but I will as soon as things clarify.

@Kerya How can it be DAZ if this is not even a product of theirs but of a PA, namely Alessandro_AM.  The reason I said that is because there are other developers for Poser that have not met with the welcome I would have hoped and we are still waiting for their products as well.  Let's face it, Poser's Hair room and Cloth room are over 10 years old with no improvement in sight.  There are developers for dynamic cloth and hair solutions that SM should have already incorporated in P11 if it desires to stay competitive.  Let's hope by P12 they have something new.

To tell the truth: I haven't updated to P11 - I don't like the deactivation without internet connection thing.

I DO like both, Dazstudio and Poser (and Bryce and Vue), so I am NOT trying to start  a war!

You're absolutely right, they are all means to an end.  Competitiveness  should serve to advance them though and that is my only gripe. :)  Didn't think you were starting a war, just wanted to point out that LAMH is not a DAZ in-house product so there is still hope we'll see it in Poser.  I, too, have put off getting P11 since I just go PP2014 about six months ago so I'm still discovering things.  I must say I enjoy PP2014 immensely and I've seen improvements from PP2012.

  • Yes please and don't forget a Mac version.

    Yes my god YES..

AM, its very important. I would buy it even only for millienium big cats for lion mane.. the worst main done at "3D mane" history... and poser hair takes years to render and it's no use for animators..

  • Definitely WOULD like.
