A new maid set would be nice, the ones I have for A3/A4 and V4 are overused, and some of them don't convert so well to genesis.

    Some? More like ALL.

I actually fell for Genesis thinking wow I can use all my old clothes from Gen 3 and Gen 4 figures....

    HAH.

What a laugh :( auto fit destroys the chest area. I have had several clothiing converters before, so I'm aware there are sometimes deforming in different areas.
But autofit ruins EVERYTHING. unless it is a bikini that only covers from breast up, or from under the breast, it is so badly broken/deformed under the breast that its totally unusable and no amount of smoothing will fix it.
On top of that, the skirts are all hopelessly mangled.

hence, i need a maid outfit....

heck now I'm wondering why I bother... I got genesis to save on clothes, not buy new ones...

I'm off to play with V4 until someone decides to make a Genesis maid outfit >_<</p>

There's an apron in the two waitress outfits in the PC, and in the MFD wonderland expansion too.
Not sure if any of those could suit your needs.

be nice to see a new maid outfit released as part of the Aiko 5 launch. Haven't seen any protoentries in the documentation center to suggest this, though.

The latest version of 4.5 is better than previous version on converting items...

    But there are still difficulties.

Some of those are actually caused by what is being converted (not enough/wrong distribution polygons in the critical areas). One of the only ways to fix the problems is to make corrective morphs to add to the item AFTER it's been converted. Autofit is a tool that will get you part to most of the way there...it's not an 'end solution' (although SickleYield seems to have made major strides in improving things...),

I can't say it destroys everything, but the issue I had with my maid outfits including the ones shared by Rareth is that the frills go to crap if you try to use the smoothing modifier. Also the apron and skirt don't know how to stay layered properly so the skirt cuts through the apron, requiring a lot of work if the maid isn't standing upright perfectly. A few other issues, but for folks doing distant renders it's probably not as big of an issue, but I do up close and personal so things like that always show up and require a ton of post work.

If the apron is a separate mesh then there's an easy fix...change what it collides with. Instead of letting Genesis be the object it collides with, change it to be the skirt.

Yep aware of that works great! Unfortunately these are the same item so nothing to be done but cry.

I've always wondered...how hard is it to separate pieces of an object? Can you send it to Hexagon, break it, and re-import it as two parts?

If item is modelled in a such way that there are two layers of actual mesh, separating them is easy and can be done in Hexagon. But the extracted part will not be rigged and will be just static prop.

If items is modelled in a such way that layers are not real but there is only an illusion of them (like a cuff of shirt sleeve shown from a sleeve of a coat but without any actual shirt under the coat) than separating them won't be much use.

I've found that I can get most to work but it does take some fiddling.

That said the biggest problem isn't the autofit but the way some of the older models were put together. Not criticizing the models as they were designed for a different system but outfits that aren't joined together if you need to use smoothing at all tend to fall apart.

IIRC these wouldn't require sending to Hexagon above fixing the skirt distortions which Sickle's new product should fix.

This wasn't sent to Hex at all

That is listed as V4 only, not for Genesis.
