Been gone a long time and now SO confused

So, it's been almost two years since I have been active in this forum and almost that long since I worked with Daz Studio. I just downloaded it to my new laptop and I am in the process of using the new install manager to download my content.

So far, it says it has installed 732 items, but when I open DS, I see nothing. I used to know DS3 in and out. This new version seems confusing.

Anybody have any advice as to how to get DS to actually see my content, or let it allow ME to see it? LOL

In that respect, it is the same as any other version :)

You have to tell DS where to find th content, in Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager. You need to enter the path to the 'My DAZ 3D Library' as both DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats. That will allow you to see your content in the Content Library pane.

If you are using the CMS (Content management Service), and it is running as a process, then your Smart Content pane should also have content too. Did you install Genesis Starter Essentials as pert of your installing process? You need to install that to get Genesis at all.

Sigh. I really feel out of it. None of this is familiar to me at all. I NEVER used the content management system because everything was stored in my poser library and that is where the library pointed to. I did check the settings and they are pointed to the correct location where are the content is now stored. Ugh. I thought I would be able to jump right back in. Apparently not.

You don't have to use the content management. You can always view content as a tree. But studio files need to be in the correct location and in the studio part of your content for studio to see the properly.

I no longer use poser and would like to view content as a tree.

What is the correct path that I should have it pointing to? For some reason the installer placed all the content in the /users/public directory.

Can someone post an example of what their paths look like?

Man, I feel like such a newer than new newbie.

On the top right of the content tab will be four little lines. Right click that and select view as a tree. Top big will be "Daz Studio Formats". There will also be a poser formats below that. All your Studio content will be in the studio format and the older or poser stuff in the poser section.

Thanks Khory. I found the content but it's going to take me weeks to organize it. What a cluttered mess! And I still haven't downloaded my 20GB of stuff from Renderosity yet. :-/

You can do some organizing inside studio now. And be sure not to over organize and start moving files that can't be moved or that need to stay inside the studio file structure.
