Help Setting Up Folders To Distribute Props
Please help!!!!!! I don't have much hair left to pull out!
I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong when I try to put my props in a folder set up to offer as freebies and sale.
This is the set up I was told to use, but it doesn't seem to be working according to my testers:
MyProp/
Runtime
/Geometries/MyProp/ the .obj file
/Libraries/Character/MyProp/ the .pp2 and .png image
I am using D|S 3.1 ( not Advanced )
C4D R12 to Make the props
The PP2 Exporter
Windows 7
I make the prop, export as an .obj or .obj's depending on the prop and if it has more then one moving part. I import the props into D|S, scale, and save as a scene.
Then I use the PP2 Exporter to create the prop in .pp2 format.
When I save the PP2 files I save them directly into the prop folder I have set up outside of D|S. I save the .obj into the geometries folder and the .pp2 and .png into the libraries folder.
I am not saving in D|S, then pasting as when I tried that, the testing came back with D|S looking for a file in my folder in D|S and not the Runtime in the prop folder I had set up, zipped, and uploaded.
If anyone can help I would be very greatful.

You must set up your folders in the DS or a Poser Runtime folder. Not to any folders outside of DS or poser.
When you create the PP2 file the paths are hard coded into to file. In Daz Studio and Poser if the Path is in a CONTENT folder at the time of the Save it will save a reletaive path. If the item or parts of the item are outside th content folder you get Hard coded paths, ones that look for the path on every computer. It should be done this way...
Content folder for DS:
Content>
. Blah>
. Blah>
. Runtime>
.. Goemetry>
... Your folder>
.. Props>
... Your folder>
.. Textures>
... Your folder>
All the parts need to be in the Runtime folder in the proper sub folders before you make the PP2. If not the item will not work.
I hope this helps some.
EDIT: Also the item most be Textured from the Runtime texture folder if textures are included or once again a Hard coded path will ne hunted by the file.
Sorry it took so long to get back to this.
I must still be doing something severely wrong because I tried to set up the folders in the main D|S Props folder, and it still didn't work. I feel really stupid for not being able to figure this out, when it seems pretty simple.
Runtime>
.Gometries>
..YOUR FOLDER
.Props>
..YOUR FOLDER
.Textures>
..YOUR FOLDER
Nothing more Only your Folders Copied From the DS Runtime. I'm Making a Set Myself right now But It also Uses the DS 4.5 Folders, It works just the same. All work must be Done Inside the DS Content Folder. And Then Copied to a Dummy Set of Folders to be Zipped.
