Real vehicles

I'd love to see more current, contemporary everyday vehicles. There are lots of high priced sportscars out there, and models of apocalyptic buggies and such, but how about an everyday compact car? An everyday pickup truck? A real passenge van, or contemporary city bus, not a toon one? There are a few models like this out tere, but not many. Given their relative scarcity, I really think this line up modeling could be successful.

Thanks for listening.

    Like a Honda, LOL

If you check here http://www.dmi-3d.net/index.html or other places on the web you can find car models in various formats. I use carrara to open this one in .LWO format and export as .OBJ and then slapped some iray shaders on it in DS. They can fill the gap till actual DS models come out.

Hi have a question, all the car models are either iwo or max files. Is there a converter to convert these models to fbx files? Or even Dazstudio files?

Not a DS specific converter, buit there are a ton of modeling apps on the web and most can convert to different formats. Carrara (sold by DAZ) can import .LWO or .3DS files and convert them to .obj and it's on sale right now

Take a look at Vanishing Point's library.  He has a few 'regular' vehicles there, such as this minivan:

A lot of the stuff is Poser, etc. but a couple of them have Daz versions.  I've had good luck opening/using some of the Poser stuff in Daz as well, YMMV.

You may find that vehicles made for poser will often not allow doors to open properly in D|S

True -- also applying shaders can be a bad expereince.  I've had a few with dozen's of poorly labeld zones.  I've also found that some aren't true to scale - you have to modfity one or more l,w,h to get them "right"

One of our forum members mentioned that they were working on converting more of the Vanishing Point stuff to Daz.  No idea if that is still happening, but if there is something you like, it might not hurt to reach out to VP or Scavenger, the guy that was doing some of the conversions.  See this thread:

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/168241/lots-of-interesting-new-stuff-by-vanishing-point-but/p1

And I did say YMMV with the Poser stuff.  I usually end up playing with a few of the textures, and yes scaling, but in my mind resizing something is fairly trivial to begin with/something I have to do with most imported stuff.  As for doors opening, etc. well I'd recommend reaching out to Scavenger and VP if you see something you like, and see if they might be willing to do a Daz version anytime soon.

As for the wavefront .obj's, well I'm guessing those aren't very 'poseable' to begin with, but they should import at least...
