Saving Characters to DAZ Studio 4.9

Hello,

Maybe i'm missing something here,

but is there a way to save a character with morphs, hair and or clothes to DAZ studio

Without saving it as a scene? So I can use it again without having to redo everything.

So far I've only been able to save a character as a scene. Any input would be great.

Cheers,

Pat

Scene subset is a better option, it lets you choose what gets saved and the default behavior is to merge into the current scene rather than replace it.

Were they saved on the same computer?

Do you have the base figure installed?

    Where were they saved?

Did you get any error messages about "Storables not found"?

Can you go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, expand the "DS Formats" section, and post a screenshot?

    Hello,

How do you save a character to DAZ Studio? Currently I've been saving characters as scenes after I have taken a character and added morphs, hair and anything else etc.

Now when I go to load that character it loads as a scene whereas I can't load any more scene because it will be overridden. So is there a way other than saving as a scene?

    Cheers.

    Pat

PS. Sorry if this looks like a repost. Could find my post from yesterday.

Right click on the scene icon and select 'Merge'.

You can save characters and wearables as presets using Save As...

    1. Set up your character with all morphs, clothing, etc. and make sure it is selected in the Scene
    2. Go to File -> Save As -> Character Preset
    3. Browse to your save location (typically Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/Presets/Characters
    4. Click Save
    5. In the popup, leave the checkboxes selected to save the morphs and material settings, then click Accept
    6. Your character is saved and can be loaded from the Content Library.

To save the clothing (including hair) you need to do a separate save as...

    1. Ensure the character is still selected in the scene
    2. Go to File -> Save As -> Wearable(s) preset
    3. Browse to your save location (typically Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/Presets/Wearables
    4. Click Save
    5. In the popup, select the wearable items you want to save in that set, then click accept
    6. Your clothing and hair can now be loaded onto a compatible character from the Content Library

For the wearables, I generally divide them up into three groups - Base, Accessories, and Outfits

    • Base is just the hair and/or anatomy.
    • Accessories are things like jewelery, watches, eyeglasses, weapons, etc.
    • Outfits are the actual clothing.

That way I can load some or all of a character and outfit, or apply the outfit to other characters.

    Hope this helps.

And if you want a file with selected clothes, hair, skin and characters, save as a "Scene Subset" as mentioned previously.
