Carrara 8.5 and Daz Studio 4.5 Pro - Working with Genesis
Carrara 8.5 and Daz Studio 4.5 Pro - Working with Genesis
Genesis in Carrara is a very appealing notion. Genesis is the latest and greatest in 3d figure technology, and it's truly showing bits of its potential already. But given time, it should begin to blow us away! UV swapping on a SubD cage is just the way to go - so Daz3d did.
Whether you like or dislike using Daz Studio as a scene render tool, you'll get a lot more mileage from Genesis if you add it to your flow. Daz Studio was very much built around Genesis - and so it's only natural that it holds some of the keys towards unlocking the beast within.
Browsing videos on the Daz3d YouTube channel is a great way to learn more about Genesis and Daz Studio. Right here I've fiound an excellent forum tutorial by one of my favorite character morph artists, Thorne, as she explains How To create your own custom Genesis Body Morph target in an effort to get more from her latest lineup of Morph Resource Goodies. Some of the finest tweaks found anywhere!

Just reading that short tutorial should give you a hint at the enormous wealth the these two apps gain when used together. They'll help to give you a really professional workshop geared towards: Animation, Producing Character Morphs, Clothing, Pose Combinations, etc., and if this is the route you want, it's probably a good idea to grab onto Hexagon as well. The bridge between Daz Studio and Hexagon is awesome for performing the act of making new morph targets. It will give you an automated assistance when bridging back to D|S from Hex.
There are many more reasons that this combination will assist you in your Genesis uses, which we'll explore in time!
Don't hesitate to check out some of the helpful videos on the Daz3d Channel
There may be a lot to wade through, but they have some really good resources if you're patient enough to sort through them. I'll be linking to some of them more directly, here... but in the meantime - have yourself a nice browse.
In this thread, I'd like to explore the possibilities of using these applications in partnership, rather than a contest between them - mainly because I find entirely different strengths and weaknesses between the two. With the CCT built into Daz Studio, we are encouraged to take Genesis to any heights we desire. Although it may take time - I'd really like to explore some of those heights.
