edited December 1969 in The Commons

Hi, could someone please tell me what I'd need to buy and download to be able to create some Amour / Weapons for an Online Game?

I've been looking everywhere for some good Applications and was recommended here "DAZ3D" but after looking at the program I am unsure how I'd go about doing such a thing so I was wondering if someone could please help me? ^_^

Any Suggestions, Advice etc would be Very much appreciated!!! :D

Thank You!!!

Depending what type of kit you need... some of the DAZ stuff might be a bit high on the poly count for some types of game. (especially if the armour you need is fantasy style rather than sci-fi)

3DRT has some very useful packs that work for various game types - http://www.3drt.com/

*edit* - just re-read you message... for you to create your own from scratch, Hexagon or Carrara would the the DAZ programs to consider.

Be aware that any product that you bought from the DAZ 3D store comes with an EULA that says you cannot redistribute the mesh in any form, either as it stands or modified.

To use DAZ 3D products in any game you would need to also purchase the game license, and that only cover products that are DAZ Originals.

Ugh OKi thanks I never knew that I'd need to buy a Licence as the game is owned by a friend of mines and is being hosted on a private server etc.. I was just asked to create some new Armour etc that's Fantasy aswell as Sci-Fi added to it as I like the idea of making it Sci-Fi also as it adds an extra erm... Mysterious Look etc to it...

Has anyone got any suggestions about what I can do? as I plan to buy some of the Products from Daz3D anyway when I next get paid but was hoping to have used the Product to make some Armour I suppose you could say Scrap Book so that I can show to my friends for there
Opinions before we come to a decision etc...

    Thanks.. ^_^

Renders are fine, it's the actual mesh that is protected by the EULA.

If you're only using the 2d renders, you don't need the additional license. The license is needed if you are actually going to use the model meshes in the game itself (like, say, exporting them as props). Aside from the license, you'd need the Decimator, too, since the models on DAZ and most other sites for Poser-like programs are much higher polygons which are not suited for games (think of the intro or cutscene animations) compared to the ones used in games.

However, if you are only using the renders produced in 2d format (like .jpg, .png, .tiff, .gif, or similar files), then it's just fine to use them in games.

As for suggestions, you might want to go to the shop and review the products under clothing & accessories and weapons and warfare and and then check further under "fantasy" and "sci fi" categories (which can be found at the left side of the lists). Here are links:
