Weapon sheaths and holsters.

I hate to sound like a whiner, but nothing gets my goat more than a costume that includes weapons with no way to carry them but in your hands. TWO of the costumes in the new V8 pro bundle include weapons, and no way to carry them except in V8s mitts at all times. Are sheaths and holsters really that hard to craft?

The last thread I saw Questor post in was one asking him to put out his ancient weapons sets again, his response was that he felt those sets were terribly outdated. I wish I'd posted then to tell him that the reason why I loved them and STILL use them is because he crafted sheaths to go with the weapons in most of the cases.

Can somebody please figure this out?

This is a recurring topic, so it might not ever happen.
It's not just weapons, there are other items that should have a way to carry them but don't.
A canteen, spare magazines (There's a sniper rifle that has a separate, matching clothing set
but no ammo pouches - I guess the sniper is so good that she never needs more than one magazine).
I've kitbashed slings out of pool noodles...
Seriously, who owns a rifle without a sling?
    Maybe accessories aren't sexy enough?

    Totally agree.  Very annoying.

I don't broker here, but I do try to put sheaths and baldrics into my outfits when they're called for, like with a Roman legionnaire. I can say, though, getting a sheath to rig properly is a pain, and a baldric crossing the chest area is trickier than you might think. Male figures are fairly straightforward, but females can be... challenging.

    MAJOR VOTE IN AGREEMENT!

I work in the fantasy genre, and most of my characters carry swords. They carry them because they have nowhere to put them.

Oh, while we're talking about things to put stuff in, how about women's purses?

Type it out with spaces rather than dots and slashes.

Even that would constitute an Off Site Commercial, whcih is not allowed under the Daz 3D ToS.

It's okay, you're pretty easy to find. Love the Dark Ages Scale Armor, it's one of the few realistic sets I've seen where the female version looks like the male version, and offers real protection. Sexy as all get out, too.

Would it be possible to offer a sheath with the knife/sword hilt as an integral part? If my understanding is correct, the difficulty arises in trying to model them as seperate units, then making them fit together. A knife set would be bare knife, and knife in sheath, (With the knife hilt being able to be made invisible).

    Anyway, thanks.

I looked at doing it that way, but I found it easier to simply parent the blade to the scabbard and supply the combination as part of the wearable preset. It's actually pretty straightforward to put the sword in the scabbard (provided the scabbard isn't modeled too close to the blade dimensions.) I used that approach in the fantasy expansion that went live last night for the shortswords belted to the thighs. It makes things a bit more vesatile since you can partially draw the sword if you want to make an intermediate pose, and if you want the sheath empty you can either delete or hide the sword. When I made the Scale Armor I hadn't figured out the scabbard and sword thing yet, which is why it doesn't have scabbards.

If this is deacon215, you do good work. I picked up your dark Age weapons set the other day, nice stuff and appreciate the poses. I am a huge warrior woman/Red Sonja fan, so I am always looking for outfits like that and Bronze scale looks very interesting. Looking forward to see what you come up with next

As someone who has made several guns, I will be honest and state that I had originally planned on making both gun holsters and magazine holsters.  However, again being honest, making the holster for .44 magnum drove me up the wall so badly that by the time I gave up on it, (7 attempts if memory serves)  the experiance of trying to make it, made it the worse part of the project and so I gave up and just finished the product as it.

So I apploigize for not having any for my 3 guns and their magazines.

Was it the rigging Matty or the actual modeling? I have nearly every weapon from the games I play and have modeled a few myself which is why I haven't purchased any of yours but they do look outstanding!

This thread inspired me to make this https://www.daz3d.com/katana-and-poses-for-genesis-8-female-s and it's out now :)

Planning to do a knightly sword with scabbard and some sort of belt sometime soon
