Question on Andrey Pestryakov'sForest Winter

I've got the rest of Andrey Pestryakov's Forest products and they're great, but this one has me puzzled. Are there any moprhs/alt textures/deformers/whatever to let you put footprints or tire tracks in the snow without postworking it in Photoshop? It seems like this product would be a lot more usable if it came with a set of "snow objects" that let you add furrows or imprints in the snow, but the description doesn't seem to indicate any.

I wondered this as well considering that any figure walking on snow would leave footprints unlike in the other Forest products. Maybe it's assumed that this will be down as post work? I'm not sure how it could be done in DAZ unless its possible to morph the snow somehow.

The easy way would be with a texture overlay. A better way would be with a custom snow props that goes on top of the existing snow, so you'd have "displaced" snow on the edges, with a texture that fakes a "hole" in the middle.

Any tips on using the forest products at all? Ive got a I7 with 8gb ram, and it is practically unusable trying to move it around and add things, etc. Any tips on using it in a manner that can be used with reduced memory (funny saying 8gb ram is reduced memory)

Do you have the forest expansion?? I've used it to set up the scene with individual props rather then the "Grouped" props that are in the provided scenes, that way I can remove anything that isn't need in the scene I working with ,basically anything off camera or out of sight ...yeah it took a bit of time and patience ,but once saved it's great .....

Forgot to add that Spacebones has some footprint objects up on ShareCG ,that could be used to make footprints.

Do you mean the Forest Elements stuff? http://www.daz3d.com/forest-elements No, I don't have that. I got sort of discouraged with the whole thing after not being able to use it really in either Poser or DS. (that whole very excited, and then crash and burn feeling) Not sure I want to spend more to try again...thanks for pointing it out though! :) Perhaps on a FastGrab at some point.

Changing from texture shaded to one of the wireframe views during scene setup seems to speed things up on large scenes.

The scene is quite large and heavy so the viewport is rotated slowly. To expedite the process in the viewport is recommended to disable some of the objects, such as grass or trees. When you set an approximate location for the camera, then again make visible all objects and adjust the location of the camera.

I guess I could do morphs for snow, but then I'd have to greatly increase the polygon mesh and increase the load on the scene. (Though it is worth noting that the winter scene is much easier than the summer). Also, each print of leg would have to do a separate morph so they can appear gradually for animation. Ie these morphs require hundreds ... While I was not ready for this... So I did not do the heavy polygon mesh and not created hundreds of morphs for snow.

Forest Elements does not have winter elements since it was created before Forest Winter. Maybe later I'll do some winter elements and inserting them into the Forest Elements, maybe.. DAZ Studio users can use individual trees of Forest Elements and apply winter materials.

I would definitely buy Winter Elements ,if you created them ,I've got all of your Forest sets so far and Forest Winter hit the checkout so fast I think some of the snow melted!!
