I went to see the new 3D movie "Jack The Giantkiller" yesterday. Good fun! I got absorbed in the story and didn't even try to overanalyze the graphic effects. I just believed them.

Characters were delightfully one-dimensional. A few respected but unimportant characters got killed in inventive ways, there was lots of flying boulders & flaming trees and crushed castle walls, the giants were amazingly stupid & ugly, the baddies got their comeuppance, and the goodies lived happily ever after. The story rarely got slow, and thankfully there was no long protracted mushy scene between the starcrossed lovers.

On a scale of 5 gryphon claws, this is a 5 for fun.

Sounds great!! I am taking my Mother to see it tomorrow. We always try to do a movie 1 time a week if there is anything on we want to go see. Looking forward to it!
Next week it will be the Great and Powerful Oz!

    Fee...Fi...Fo...Meh!

I went to see it this morning with my wife. There were some cool moments but there was a serious lack of continuity [I won't divulge plot spoilers]. Very simple corrections that any competent writer would have caught and corrected. But alas, it was another let's wow the crowd with how cool we can do the effects/CGI [which were very well done by the way] and have oodles of plot devices to show them off.

Sad because I really wanted to like the film...

I hope for much better next week from Sam Raimi and Oz...
