"Grain lines" in render

I'm rendering an .avi in Daz4.5 Pro (Win7 64bit). It looks fine in Daz, but when I play the .avi in Windows Media Player it has these 'grain lines' in it.

My guess is that is due to the compression inherent in the video codec being used by Studio. Codecs are a real nightmare and I don't profess to know much about them! Personally I always render things as an uncompressed numbered sequence in, say, targa format, and then compile in After Effects. I then render out in the format that is appropriate for the project/client. I'm currently using a DVCPro mov codec for standard definition broadcast, which is also highly compressed, and displays some artifacts and banding, but not as pronounced as in your example. Do you have other software and/or codecs that you could try to compile the video? For me it's largely been trial and error over the years!
Nice corpuscles and cholesterol by the way. As Frasier Crane once said "I can almost hear my left ventricle slamming shut!"
