I was referred here by BeeMKay for a question that I have regarding legacy UVs.
Are you actively working on one for M4>G8 Male? If so, do you have an anticipated release date?
Not trying to be pushing I am just wondering. Thank you so much in advance for your consideration!
Greenturnsblue, yes, the Michael 4 UV conversion is almost done. Then I will submit it, then it will be QA'd, and eventually (hopefully) it will be released. So I think you have to think in terms of several weeks.
This is great news. Please consider updating the product page info to mention this, as well as updating at least one of the G8F packages with this option.
Once the Michael 4 UVs are done I shall be updating all the G8F conversions to include the Sclera Attachment as a standalone. I may or may not get the product description amended - there is always a danger of including too much information, and I like to make things as simple as possible. I'll see if I can incorporate it into the Michael 4 UVs product description first.
Hey - your work is fantastic - could not get by without it!
Is there any chance you might have Legacy UVs M4-G8 in the works?
I have over 30 M4 Characters that I'd love to move over onto G8 if at all possible.
@philip_gould, Cayman Studio stated the above further up the thread, so you'll have to wait a bit, but it wilol come. :-)
@BeeMKay, Thanks! I scrolled right past it.
Legacy UVs for Genesis 8: Michael 4 will be released soon.
As with the other Genesis 8 Legacy UVs releases the geografts now load as one piece and incorporate an Eye attachment designed to replicate the geometry of the earlier generations. The Eye attachment (called 'Sclera Attachment') can also be loaded as a standalone so that earlier eye MATs (including Genesis 3) can be used with Genesis 8 textures.
In addition there is a 'Pubic Hair' attachment which can take the materials for the M4 Genitalia Pubic_Hair surface where available.
Awesome work! Having used quite a few of your products for G3, it occurs to me that a product to use G3 or G8 textures on more older figures (V4, M4) would be very useful. I was thrilled to be able to use V4 skins on GF3, but after a few uses in Iray realized that they just didn't look as good as the native Iray ones. Not sure how popular your Genesis 3 UVs for Genesis 2 Female was, but it really increased/prolonged the use of GF2 for me and I know there are still quite a few V4 users out there. Just a thought.
The thing is geografts won't work on Generation 4 figures, so that option isn't really on the cards. But I have just started working on a Genesis 3 UVs for Genesis product, so that will plug the final gap in the UVs/Geografts universe.
Fantastic! I had forgot abot the geograft situation, sorry abot that. Good to hear on the genesis one, will be a purchase from me for sure!
I will be looking forward to the G3->G1 product. G1 is still my primary figure (because I'm too lazy to port a couple of hundred character builds to newer figures). There have been some splendid skins for later figures, that I just have had to envy.
*Bounces with excitement* Yay! I will be able to bring my fav M4 character to life in G8!
Legacy UVs for Genesis 8: Michael 4 is released today.

I'm having trouble applying texures with M4 UV's. These are specifically M4 textures, as well as G1 textures with M4 UV's. The textures simply don't apply. The M5 textures will apply with M5 UV's. I tried to apply them before and after applying the M4 UV's.
I'm not sure what's wrong, as I have most of your legacy textures for G8 and have used them successfully before - but this is the first time I'm trying out the M4 set.
The most obvious question is whether your M4 textures are in the .duf format. If not, open an M4, apply the textures, save as a material preset which will end with .duf, and apply that to the legacy uv Genesis 8.
For the life of me, I cannot get the geographs to accept textures :(
I have the G2F legacy UV for G8F
I load and select G8, click the prepare figure, apply the Bree All G2F texture, then click Apply G2 Uvs but all the geograph addons stay white.
I tried re-selecting all the model and geograph surfaces and apply the texture again, but the areas still stay white.
I tried selecting all the surfaces and applying the iray uber shader, then re-applying the Bree All but still white
I tried selecting just the geograph surfaces and applying the texture but still white.
(Bree All! is part of the G2F starter essentials and is a duf file)
The geografts for the Legacy UVs for Genesis 8 Female series are actually a Lilac/Violet colour, so they shouldn't really be white at any stage of the process. Could you perhaps attach a screenshot of the head region after you have applied the textures so I can see what the situation is.
Well now. I just figured out what's happening.
I figured it out by starting with a brand new G8 character and prepped it for legacy UVs
Added the Bree textures and set the UV. At this point everything is fine.
I added a 3rd party geograph and that's when your geographs turned white.
Seems a bit of an odd state of affairs. If the 3rd party geograft is meant to be fitted to Genesis 8, make sure that only Genesis 8, not the Legacy geografts, is selected when you load it.
Yeah, it's an odd geograph. It has a couple of objects that load with it and those objects have surfaces for all the figure areas and so overlap.
If one of those objects is a geoshell, that might be the problem. I've run across several products where applying a premade geoshell causes problems with geografted items.
Yeah, now that I know what's causing it I can go back through the offending pieces surface settings and set the opacity to 0 on all that overlap. Clears it right up :)
Yeah, I was coming here to ask about that...
I consistently get a problem with anything else that uses a geograft shell - tans, sweat and water, blood, and dirt effects... that will cause the Cayman UVs to turn gray, white or black.
I'll have to look into Kaotkbliss's solution and see if that fixes my problems where I've been encounering them.
I can confirm that Kaotkbliss's solution works - but his description isn't super clear.
Load your character and any geografts, prep for Cayman Studio's legacy UVs, apply your legacy skin map, apply the skin map UV... apply any other geografts - the head, shoulders and thighs will turn white.
Select *the last geograft that you applied before the regions turned white*.
In Surfaces, expand that geograft, and you'll see a list of regions... Arms, Cornea, Eyelashes, etc...
Find the lgg_region_xxx entries... for example, "lgg_shldr_l_1..."
In fact, just shift-select all the "lgg_region_" surfaces.
Change opacity down to 0% on all of those... the white will go away, and your skin map will look like it did before you applied the offending geograft.
This doesn't just happen with Cayman Studio's legacy UV geografts - I've had the same problem with lots of other geografts, too.
If anyone knows Cayman Studios can you please tell them that they have a sitemail here at Daz waiting for them?
Sabby, apologies. Usually I get an e-mail notifying me of messages in my Inbox, but I didn't get one for this for some reason. I will send you a message in response.
Thanks!
Greetings,
I'm at a complete loss, unfortunately. Can any of these products allow me to use a Genesis (base!) skin on G8? I get the geoshell, which is awesome, but I can't seem to apply a _base_ Genesis texture to the shell.
I'm specifically trying to apply the Foxy texture from Foxy and Wolfy, but it seems not to work at all.
What product or process gives a base Genesis UV for a geoshell on Genesis 8?
-- Morgan
If I'm not mistaken, the Genesis Base UV is virtually identical the V4 (except for the eye); so, the V4 to G8F version of this product should work. Please double check and verify that the V4 UV is the same as Genesis Base.
