Home sick....Here's what I'm trying to work on today

Really bad headache yesterday, came home early, feeling a little better this morning but going to stay home. I'm still working on PTO from last year. I usually don't take off much but allergies are kicking my posterior.

So I'm going to try to work on:

1) I started a tutorial yesterday and was going along fine until I went to render. Their's looks really good. Mine was all dark and the body had blackish splotches all over it. Obviously something isn't set up the right way. Ugh...I hate lighting.

2) I can never seem to fine the right pose for Genesis so I'm going to try and make some on my own (I have tried before). But they tend to be robotic, all stiff and out of joint. There is definitely an art to posing. Another thing is just because I make a pose for Genesis it's still a little different depending on character such as a pose for Michael 5 is off slightly when applying to Basic Genesis Male or Justin. It's close but just off slightly.

Anyway, that's what I'm going to try and work on.....how about you? :)

I'm trying to tackle my first character creation today, instead of mixing and matching the characters in my runtime like i usually do.

Hope you feel better soon, and good luck with your goals for today.

Good luck with that! I still mix and match lol. I posted a question over at Dreamlight for the one issue and I am working on posing while I wait.

Too bad posing couldn't be done using sensors or something lol. It'd be much easier.

My project for this week...maybe the next couple weeks...is to get my new computer set up and to learn to use Windows 8, Sickle Rigging and Morphing System, and Look At My Hair. Because of this I may not get to do much rendering for a little while...but at least when I do, the scenes should render much more quickly than what I'm used to!

Hope you're feeling better soon, whispers65, and good luck to both of you with your projects!

Windows 8 isn't bad once you get up and going with it. I did mine a while back and feel pretty comfortable. I don't have "Look At My Hair" but I have Garibaldi Express Hair System. Which I haven't done anything with yet lol. I'm scared of it.

I'd also like to try Sickle's Rigging and Morhphing system but scared of that too lol. I get so overwhelmed so gotta take everything slowly.

Good God! Do I feel your pain on lighting!

I have purchased all three of Dreamlight's 3D Master programs (Lightning, Modeling, & Animation) to help improve my hopelessly clueless lighting skills, and no matter how much I try to imitate the videos and note down important points for reference, I can just never seem to make my renders look appropriate. Then I see everyone pop out nice movie quality renders in their galleries and promos and my envy scales pierces right through the firmaments...

I know right!?! I bought the series also so trying to learn but...lol...so far lighting is my least favorite thing to do but is one of the most important if not the most important. So what is a poor struggler to do? Oh well. I'm going to keep trying. I invest enough time and effort into it so that's not the issue. Finding answers and examples is mostly the issue for me that's why I bought the series.

Have you made it very far into the series? I just started this week.

The last one I watched was 1.4.7. So I learned about all of the main elements. Still, that doesn't do much for me quite well enough. Here's a few I tried to experiment with:

    638 x 696 - 100K
    Scarlette_Pose_(Distant).jpg
    638 x 696 - 56K

Looking good RCDeschene! I really like the pose on the last pic. :)

I'm watching 2.02 tonight, using Daz's native rendering engine.

I broke down and bought Streets of Asia so pretty much have the same setup for the first example.

This March madness is going to drive me nuts. I'm spending too much lol and I still don't have Reality yet.

Those are nice looking renders. I like the first and third ones a lot; the contrast between the dark background and the brightly lit figure makes the character really stand out. But I am always a fan of just about anything colorful on a black background.

    Thanks! :)

I can see why you'd like those the best. The second one was very bothersome. I had to experiment LOADS with it as well as had help on it's presentation from a fellow DAZ community member.
