Thanks guys!
Textured the chair today...
Hahaha... love the giant hand print! Too funny!
Wow this is coming along nicely. Is there a flowing water option?
Looks like a must-have. I love the colors.
I love the colors, too. I can't wait to get this in my runtime. :-)
Thanks a lot! That keeps my motivation quite high :)
Some more textures...
What resolution are the textures at? Hopefully sufficient to do closeups, especially of things like a figure in the drowning chair, or walking along the walls. Also, bonus points if you are using normal maps instead of bump maps... :)
Most textures are 4k. The entrance building and the backwall segment have 8k, the terrain might get 8 or 16k. Hope thats enough :)
I'd leave the pentagram out. It's a clash with the apparent theme, and it has real-world religious connotations (unlike the tentacles etc. that suggest Lovecraftian mythos that's fictional and public domain).
Good point! Btw, nothing is finished yet, so i may change a few things as well. But suggestions etc are always welcome :)
Thanks.
4k minimum should help, yes. And I'm all for the higher rez ones! :) I do all my renders exporting to LuxRender, and it tends to be pretty brutal to low-rez textures. I often have to replace environment prop textures, because they've crammed way too many surfaces into a single UV map and then shipped a 2k image for that one map...
(LuxRender is also why I prefer normal maps over bump maps; normals give much more consistent/predictable behavior than bumps do in LuxRender.)
What I like about these textures so far is the slightly grungy look, as if it's about time for a bunch of acolytes to be voluntold to give the place a good scrubbing.
*grumblemutter* Scrub the floor, Aldor. Wash the urns, Aldor. Noooo, Aldor, YOU don't get to prep the sacrifice, only Gerlib gets to prep the sacrifice. Stupid Gerlib, always sucking up to the High Priest of Madness. Hmph. *muttercomplain*
Unfortunately i have no experience with luxrender. Have to check that out someday.
Last update for today.
Experiments...
I particularly like the face on the front wall.
Thanks.
I had not that much time left this week, but i made a few changes and updates. Added more details and decided to change a few more things. I think that i can get it done in about two weeks - so let's see :)
Looks awesome. Might want to consider working on an expansion to make it look new and shiny too. I guess folks could use shaders but your personal touch is quite nice.
Thanks a lot. Yes, i thought about doing different texture versions, but that will take some time :)
Added and changed things. I will tackle the landscape next and spare the flowing water and maybe ivy for the last step.
I thought about giving the water surface in the pool a morph to raise its level - is that too much? In fact it will be just a simple plane, so everybody could click on it and move it.
Changing water level is never too much in a water-emphasis product, especially if it's easy for you to do.
Think you're right. Thanks for the push :)
Landscape experiments...
ZOMG I want it.
Yeah, this one has my attention as well.
Thanks!
Added some more details...
This just keeps getting better and better.
Thanks.
More details...
One concern I have... looking at the stairs in that last render.... do they make stairs like that with no support under them? I'm sure they do, I just never notice I guess. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the water layer. Might want to consider making it so it's got various movement morphs (ripples and what not) and perhaps level morphs and of course clean, dirty and maybe even water that's got algae all around the edges of it. This is an amazing project!
Yeah, looked odd somehow :)
WOW! this is going to be must buy
Looks like a place where the old Gods hang out! Love the fire pit!
