Dear DAZ & Genesis Clothing Creators.... Please list morphs & mat zones in your promos!

I feel like I've seen this exact topic posted here a hundred times by different users. Yet still new Genesis clothes arrive in the DAZ store daily without these basic elements included in the product description & promos.

A picture of the material zones is critical for anyone who might buy the product. Why would any one choose not to include this information?!?! All that does it make people less likely to buy the product.

A list of the adjustment morphs is critical to know whether the clothing item will work in anything other than a subtle standing pose, and whether it will be useable at all when mixed with other unrelated clothing items. If you make a piece of clothing without adjustment morphs (sadly this includes most DAZ Original Genesis clothing), then we as your customers are limited to using "collisions" (against only 1 other object) to try to resolve any interaction problems the item may have with an adjacent or underlying clothing item. Collisions & smoothing are fine, but they are memory-hogs that really slow down the user interface.... and there is only so much they can do. They can't create the effect of movement or gravity or resolve collisions against multiple objects.

Today is a perfect example: 1. We have the nice Real Feel t-shirt, with a list of adjustment morphs. I will buy that 'cause I know it can be made to look realistic. 2. We have this new Teens outfit (skirt, shirt, leggings & boots). No adjustment morphs listed. I will NOT buy it, because I have to assume it has zero morphs. They are the same price. One is just a t-shirt, the other is an entire outfit... yet the lonely t-shirt represents better value because it is actually useful!

It's bizarre to me that the most useful clothing items in my library are actually new Gen4 items sold elsewhere that have dozens of adjustment morphs (which thankfully now survive Autofit conversion very well in DS4.5Pro).

Seems like a big missed opportunity for the DAZ store. Does anyone agree?

I would particularly appreciate knowing the material zones on clothing. That lets me know how useful the clothing item will be with shaders, which I prefer using. I have to admit when I find out a piece of clothing has 0 material zones, I'm less likely to buy from that vendor in the future.

I appreciate adjustment morphs as well, although using Genesis geometry shells and collision makes it so I can collide more than one thing. But adjustment morphs are much easier.

Valid points and I agree as well. Material zone info can be useful especially with regards to shader usage.

I agree - esp. about the material zones, and this goes for figures and props as well. The more customizeable a product is, the more likely I am to buy it. I have been bitterly disappointed with some products, and also returned a few, because of missing or badly placed material zones.

Absolutely agree with you! I bought not too long ago an outfit for Genesis that had a dress and coat but found it was pretty useless to me as it had only a couple of small adjustment morphs for wrinkles. Did I know that when I purchased it...no! Will I purchase other Genesis items from that vendor again...most likely not.

Thankfully I learned how to transfer morphs from other Genesis attire I have bought that did have such adjustment morphs but I really should not have to do this. And now when I go to purchase an item 99% of the time I will walk away from buying it if I can't tell what material zones or morphs it might have.

It's frustrating to me as some of these outfits are over $20 to buy and they have ended up not being used because of these issues.

I'll chime in on the want of material zones as well. I've been asking for them for quite a while now. It is possible to make our own, but I really appreciate knowing ahead of time what I have to work with. Morphs are important as well I agree, but mat zones are a huge plus for me.

I agree as well. As a customer I love to hear about and see all of the features an item has to offer, whether it's mat zones, adjustment morphs, or other features special to an item.

When I was fairly new to the DAZ/Poser market I was more likely to buy an item based just on cool looking promos, but now that I understand the programs and the market better I am much more likely to buy items with features, or to buy from vendors who I know tend to include good features in their products.

There are several DAZ vendors I have returned to and several that I will no longer buy from because of the features I've discovered in products I purchased from them previously.

I agree, Thankfully I find most Vendors do list/show them.

As a vendor I learned about the demand for Mat zones in promos more recently so I have now started to included them.
I always listed my morphs as best i can though, in the case of 'Town girl' I didnt list them all, simply because there were too many to list, but I included numbers of morphs in each morph catagory, and had a couple of promo images to demonstrate the morphs also.

As a customer, if dont see any morphs listed in whats included & features (for Genesis Clothing). I generally will not buy unless its a DazO at a very low price or something.
I have found my self having to make the basic of basic adjustment morphs for someone elses clothing on one occasion -and I was less than happy to be doing this, espcially after purchasing at full price!
Creating Basic adjustment morphs like expanding / rasing lowering the waste line on a shirt or pants etc, literally takes about 10 minutes to do (if that). So there is really little excuse to not include them.

Well I for one will be including this info in my future products. Obviously there isn't enough space to mention all in the promos, but in the description I don't see why not.

This goes for hair too. Please, please, if there are separate materials to enable easy two-toned colors, or movement/styling morphs, mention them.

Thanks everyone for adding your voices. Hopefully someone is listening. It would be as simple as pie for DAZ to simply make "# of material zones" and "# of movement morphs" required fields in product descriptions. Even better if the vendor would always show the material zones in a promo render, and list out all the morphs by function... but even simply showing the # of each would be vastly more transparent to customers than the current lack of info.
