This seems odd unless I miss something. I see that the beta keeps going on AFTER the general release is out. Does anybody know what's happening ? Is the beta planned to go on further and if yes why it's not changed to to 4.9.5 as usual ?

You do realize threre are 4 numbers in DS version number? So yes, it's totally possible that we get multiple general versions labelled 4.9.4.xxx.
Thank you very much for your reply.
Yes I see there's a subversion number. But I also see that usually this is used for the beta version until the release comes out. And I also see that the current private beta is a 4.10.x. This made me wonder if I am missing something. I'm glad to have confirmation that everything is fine.
It all happened a bit quickly, but there were (I think) three different 4.9.4.x versions released over the span of just a couple of weeks, to fix various minor issues. So the fourth version number isn't "just for the beta", all four of them are significant. This has happened at least once before, I remember a year or two ago there was a similar quick release of succeeding fix versions.
For the development team here, it seems that sometimes the difference between Beta and Release is in the name in DAZ Install Manager
When a new General Release comes out, the Public Beta is set to match it (until there's a new Public Beta), so people can use the Pubic Beta if they want to keep an older version.
Ok so I see 122 is still in beta and there are no news from june 30. While the private build is 4.10 and seems to be actively developed. I see that 122 includes a number of important fixes for Powerpose and G8. So why don't they put it in release ? Is 122 destined to stay beta forever until 4.10 comes out ?
So, can we use Powerpose and G8 with 117 or must we use the 122 beta ? Or must we wait for 4.10 ?
I filed a ticket about this and I got an official answer so here it is for anyone interested.

Please I'd like to know which version of DAZ Studio is recommended for Genesis 8 and Powerpose. I see 4.9.4.122 includes a number of important fixes but it stills in beta. Also I see that the private build is 4.10 so it seems to me that 4.9 is no more developed and I can't understand why 122 is still in beta.
So, in order to use Genesis 8 and Powerpose best, should we use 4.9.4.117 release or 4.9.4.122 beta ? Or should we wait for 4.10 ?
I tried to ask in the tech forum but I didn't receive any answer. Probably because nobody knows. So I guess it'll be useful to everyone if you could clarify this in the official 4.9.4.122 discussion.

Hey Alessandro,
Daz Studio 4.9.4.117 is the latest public build of Daz Studio and will continue to be supported until the current build in beta is released. If you encounter any issues with these products in 4.9.4.117, please be sure to notify us and we would be more than happy to offer assistance or file any bug reports as needed. Once the next build is out of beta and released as the latest public build of Daz Studio, it is strongly recommended that you upgrade to this build, as it will become the latest build that we support.
Please let me know if I may offer any further assistance.
Thank you,
Ryan

So I understand that the reply to my question is that the best option now for G8 and Powerpose is to use 4.9.4.117 until 4.9.4 beta comes to release. This means that 4.9.4.122, even if it has fixes for G8 and Powerpose, is not advised to be used instead of 117.
So I'll wait for the fixed beta to become release. I'll also let the forum know your answer so that it can be useful to anyone. Thank you.
I don't think that is the intent - it's saying that the release build is suported, so issues with it should eb reported. It doesn't mean don't use the beta, or don't report issues (part of the point of a beta is to get issues found adn reported). Once the (a) beta becomes the release version that will be the main officially supported version, against which bug reprots should be made (4.9.4.117 will then not be current or supported, though that doesn't mean it wills top working).
With 4.9.1.122 Beta using from the DAZ UberIRay Shaders: using the green glass shader causes a bug in the iRay renderer, you have to switch to the thin glass shader. It's like the regular glass shader is double paned or something and the iRay environment that winds up between those glass panes is some sort of imageless lighting environmen that doesn't match the settings you have in your scene Environment or in the iRay Renderer Environment either. I haven't tested that in DAZ Studio 4.9.1.117 though.
