Luxus is a plugin to use transfer a DS scene in the Luxrender engine, similar to what Reality does. Luxrender is an unbiased render engine, and can use GPU as well as CPU. It is open source.
THere is also a THread here in the Commons. It may be better to keep all the discussion together, so I can merge this thread with that one if the OP is happy with that.

Ah, now I think I understand - the Luxus plugin provides a sort of "bridge" from Daz to Luxrender, and Luxrender then produces the final render, yes?
Correct.
Luxrender is a stand-alone render engine, Luxus just makes it a bit easier to use with DS Scenes.
