Has any one successfully achieved a luminous jellyfish type of effect in Studio? I am doing a little research for a possible future character.

I don't have an appropriate jellyfish to test it on, however this method may work for you depending on your model:
To apply to a surface to make it emit light: Select the surface, then from your Content Library select "!UberAreaLight Base.dsa" . Set the Opacity slider to whatever value you feel is appropriate so you can partly see through it, and set the Color slider to the color of light you want it to emit.
If you haven't worked with the UberAreaLight before, you might need more information too to get it working to your satisfaction, let us know.
If your model has internal parts that look bad when you set the Opacity such that you can see them, this might not work for you though.
hey thanks
its a good start

Well, yeah. Those are luminous jellyfish
The notes for this indicate this will work in Poser, but not in DAZ Studio, is that correct?
That's a Poser only item...and isn't directly convertible to DS...I've been intending to try to convert them in some manner, for a while now, but haven't gotten around to it.
Yeah, but it is a good example of what I am looking for.

Yes, Poser only... What stuck in my head was "luminous jellyfish" and didn't catch the studio specification.. LOL
Yeah, sorry guys.... the light emission only works in Poser. I would have done a DS conversion with it, but I don't know the shader system in DS well enough to. That said, it can be done for certain. But it takes certain knowledge of shader mixer.
And now it has been done! :) The DS version has been released as of this morning, but it is supposed to be a freebie, so hold off on purchasing until that gets sorted out.
awesome!
