Then it will probably take no time at all.

On the contrary, I sometimes spend days doing nothing.

Speaking of nothings... has anyone else experienced a forum bug where using anything besides the 'Fast Reply' box posts, well, nothing? I've had several well-written posts inexplicably annihilated today. I can get the 'post reply' box up, but submitting the post seems to take me back to the thread without actually posting anything. Most peculiar.

    Much ado about nothing.

    http://science.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/03/24/17441356-what-is-nothing-physicists-debate?lite

I appreciate that all those scientists try to quantify it or define it but none of them came up with anything more convincing or less obtuse than some of the ideas brought forth in this DAZ forum by us "ordinary" people. 8-o

However, I still say that Nothing is its own antithesis. Everything arises from nothing and returns to nothing. I believe the idea of nothing is the basis for everything, and any study of everything is incomplete without considering nothing.

I find the idea of everything arising from nothing and returning to nothing very easy to accept. I am a scientific thinker but I get frustrated when true scientists poo-poo the idea and try to explain reality from one side of the coin. I believe they've got blinders on and they're only looking at half the problem and that their theories are actually quite limited in scope. I believe in Big Bang theories and multi-universes but I see them as only attempts to explain the non-nothing. I readily admit that they are very good ideas. They quite accurately describe the nature and behavior of spacetime and matter/energy. But regardless of how accurately they describe material reality they are only pushing off the need to address the elephant in the room, the nothing.

Once you consider that the total sum of everything (both positive and negative) may be zero then the acceptance of everything-springing-from-nothing, is easy. You don't need a reason or an explanation. It just is. It is the Alpha and Omega, the Yin and Yang, the Being and Nothingness, the Dream and the Dreamer. Just live in the dream, dance the dance.

Perhaps we need a lesser used word for "nothing". I particularly like "The Void". Very popular in some Eastern philosophies.

All in all, I'm of the opinion that nothing is more interesting than nothing.

But I think you should avoid the void.

We have nothing to fear, but fear itself.... and werewolves... zombies... space aliens with those probing tools... nuns with steel rulers... flesh eating bacteria... that fuzzy thing under the sofa cushion... old age... the dark... zombie nuns hiding in the dark with flesh eating bacteria covered probing tools... but thats basically it.... other than that, I got nothing.

Believing nothing and believing in nothing are horses of a different color. Oh... wait... there's that self-antithesis problem again. Oy!

So, to be even more obtuse... Believing in nothing is different than believing in nothing. 8-s

Or, let's try,... I believe in the concept of nothing which is not to say that I do not believe in anything. Is anybody dizzy yet?

If I entered the void then it wouldn't be void and I'd have to void the void to make it void again.

...is that like voiding a package on the shipping manifest system? Does it become nothing when I do so?
